Our first day on Jeju-island we had a whole list of things we wanted to do, and so we walked down to one of the main streets near us to do some “bargaining” with taxi drivers to see if we could get a hired car for a few days. We had read about this technique of getting a taxi online, and heard that you can often get WAY better prices on taxi’s if you just hire them as tour guides for the day to take you all over the island. So that is what we did. And although we ended up finding a really good deal on a driver for the day, the driver was actually a bit hard to be around as he was super loud, and often very opinionated as to the attractions we wanted to see, but it all worked out in the end and we had a good time. The kids all thought he was mad at them though, because his voice always sounded like he was yelling. We just softly explained to them that he was excited and that sometimes people just have loud voices. They seemed okay with him after that.
Our first stop of the day was to the Manjanggul Lava Tubes. Jeju Island, similar to Hawaii was made by old volcanos, and so they had some pretty awesome lava tubes you could walk through.
It was actually really cold in the lava tubes though and Adalynn and I were freezing, so she and I decided to head back early while Adam took the boys to finish the rest of the tour.
Here we are all packed in our hired car for the day like Sardines. Usually Adam would sit up front with the driver, and then I would sit in the back with all 4 kids.
