Barleyz Place Day Date

As I think I’ve mentioned here on the blog before, Adam and I had to get a little creative with trying to plan date night while in India (especially since Adam worked nights) but we eventually were able to find a day care where the kids could go for a few hours twice a week.  This allowed Adam and I to have some one on one time in the mornings and afternoons and to actually get out just the two of us. So nice when keeping a marriage strong is on your priority list! 🙂
For one of our dates we decided to try out a new restaurant we found out on zomato.com called Barleyz.  They were supposed to have some good American food and even served beef (very uncommon in India), so we decided to try them out.  At first as we looked over the menu we thought we were going to be disappointed with our food choices as we didn’t really see anything that was calling our names, but man alive, did the exact opposite happen.  We LOVED The food!
Adam ended up getting what they called an “Irish Stew” which was a vegetarian cream soup with different vegetables and oh my!  It was amazing!  It was almost like a cross between cream of broccoli soup (with mixed veggies) and french onion soup because it had a thick layer of cheese on top.  If you know anything about India, you probably know that cheese isn’t big here, so when you find good cheese, its pretty awesome!  Adam was pretty much in heaven!

I being the big meat eater that I am (I usually prefer meat over chocolate) opted to go with a STEAK! Those are quite a bit harder to find here in India, so pretty much whenever I see steak on the menu I get it.  I think in the 3 months we’ve lived here I’ve only had beef maybe 2 other times, so this was a real treat!  And I was not disappointed.  It definitely was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had!  And the mashed potatoes and veggies along with it were divine!  Definitely a taste of home!

We liked it so much in fact that we ended up going here for our last meal in India!  But more on that later!  For now we will just say, that we so wished we’d found this place earlier!  It was awesome!
