Having Fathers Day in India was really a fun experience. We unfortunately didn’t get to celebrate much with Adam in the morning because he had to leave at 6:30 am for his branch presidency meetings, but that just gave us a few more hours to try to help Adam know how much we love him! We all made him cards, and then I interviewed all of the kids to find out some of their favorite things about their Dad. Unfortunately I did the interview via paper this year – which I believe has now been shipped back to the U.S. so I can’t share it on the blog yet, but lets just say that some of the answers had both Adam and I cracking up! Our kids sure say the darndest things!
Adam actually was assigned to talk in church that day as well, and chose to talk about our Heavenly Fathers love and how he has felt that love through the example of his own father. He also talked about how our Heavenly Father created worlds without number and yet we are HIS greatest creation. It really was a wonderful talk and touched the hearts of many.
After church I had been invited to speak at the baptism of one of the missionaries investigators who is actually deaf. Most of the branch just stayed after church for the baptism and then we had a short program in the chapel before moving down to the baptismal font. It was so fun to be able to participate in the baptismal program and see one of our dear brothers and sisters come unto Christ. There is just something so special about a convert baptism. I love them!
Then after we were all done with our church meetings for the day – I had the kids surprise Adam with this very traditional Indian necklace! Adam had gotten a necklace similar to this for me on Mothers Day, so we thought it would be fun to get one for Adam as well. A big thanks to Naveen for going out and getting one for me and for the great pictures he took of our family together in it!!

After church we headed back to our apartment where Adam got in a good nap while I made him one of his favorite meals for lunch. BBQed Monterey Chicken, garlic red potatoes, grape juice mixed with sprite, and green beans with onion straws! Delicious! All of us thought it was the best home cooked meal we’d had since coming to India! We were glad to have finally found all the ingredients we needed (like cheddar cheese!)
Then later that evening we were able to join up with one of our friends (Adam’s co-worker) to meet his family and have dinner with them. They were so kind and had made us a traditional Indian meal but toned it WAY down so the kids to eat it. And wow did they ever make a feast for us. They probably had 8-10 different dishes that we were able to try. It was all so good!
Before dinner we were able to take the kids out for a little park time – and unfortunately these were the ONLY pictures I remembered to take. 🙁 But they remind me of our fun night with our friends so they are getting a spot on the blog! ha ha.
To end our fun day we were able to call and talk to Adam’s Dad, but unfortunately missed talking to mine (but we made sure to send an email to let him know we were thinking about him). We sure feel grateful for both of our Dads though and love and adore them so much! They have touched our lives in so many ways and made us the people we are. How grateful I am for Adam as well and the amazing husband and Father he is to our own children. He is such a sensitive loving Dad who will get down and dirty wrestling with the kids, but who also scoops them up when they are hurt, tells the he loves them, and holds them until they feel better. What a wonderful example he is to me and our kids!
