As many of you know, in the Mormon culture families are very important. One of the things we are encouraged to do by our prophets and leaders is to “go on a date” each week with our spouse, so that as a couple we can reconnect, have fun, and remember why we like each other! đ If Forever Families is what we are striving for, and having strong marriages important, than I can see why this counsel is so wise.
Unfortunately being in India meant we really didn’t have many options for babysitters, but after a month of no alone time together we decided we really needed to make it a priority! So one day Adam got online and was able to research and discover some nearby child care locations with 5 star ratings. Then while I was down for the count and sick, he went around to check out the ones he most liked and interview them. What a man! And whala! A day care center was found! And a great one at that. And date nights were once again put on our weekly schedule!
At first the kids struggled a bit having to go into the day care – as they liked spending all their time with Mom and Dad and didn’t like feeling like they were missing out on anything fun, but after a few days they started making friends and seemed to feel more comfortable going. It was also hard on them because a few of the ladies didn’t speak English, so understanding what they were being told to do was difficult. But eventually all got figured out and they seemed happy when we went to pick them up! Below are some pictures of the place they went to. We usually had them go here twice a week in the mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Adam and I would use one of those days to go on a date, and one of those days to run errands. It was really a great blessing to finally have some time alone together again!
We loved that it had so many fun things to do!
For our first date we decided to hit up a temple nearby where we bought Harry a new Indian drum for his birthday, and got to see one of the bull Gods (I forget his name). We love going to these temples though and seeing the beautiful sculptures and architecture of the buildings.
Then after that we headed over to one of our favorite parks called Lalbaugh. We have been to this park two other times before but its so huge that we have yet to explore all of it, so we took a different route to look around and explore even further. We loved finding new cool places!
Like these Beehives! Aren’t they amazing? They were all over this tree!
We loved walking around almost the entire lake!
Big Banana tree leaves!
The flowering trees here in India are just so pretty! I can’t get enough of them.
We stopped for some snacks and cuddling on the way! Love this man of mine!
I am always just baffled anytime I see someone carrying large bundles on their heads! Quite the talent indeed!
While walking in the park we discovered a Mango festival was going on where you could sample lots of different mango’s from around the country. We tried some juice and some snacks as we walked through it.
We are so grateful to be back on track with weekly date nights. Or actually “date days” now since Adam works nights here in India. Either way…its been a huge blessing to have that alone time again. Sure do love being married to my Adam. What a gift he is in my life!
