Guest House in Courg India

After our wonderful time on the backwaters, our next destination was to travel up to a place called Courg where we hoped to visit an Elephant camp where we could bath the elephants, feed them, and ride them. We were all very excited about this, but it also meant that we had our longest drive yet ahead of us.  Google maps told us 7 hours, but knowing how India time is I added 3 more on just to be safe.  BUT…the trip ended up taking us over 13 hours!  Yes you read that right, almost DOUBLE the amount of time it should have. Wow.  We didn’t even hit that bad of traffic, or have an accident, or any major delay either.  That is simply how long it took to get there.  We of course as usual had our fair of car-sickness requiring us to pull over here and there to discard of throw up, but for the most part our travels went pretty smooth.  We have learned not to trust google maps, or our own estimations either.  You just never know when you will arrive when you are driving in India!
This was also MY day to get car sick and throw up and it happened late at night about midnight as we were driving on a very curvy road.  All the kids were asleep, and bless Adams heart he even let me ride in the front seat, but still I couldn’t keep the sickness away and ended up throwing up in the bushes or our blue throw up bags twice.
As you can imagine we were all just so happy to have finally reached our destination, even if it was at 1 in the morning and we all just went straight to bed.
The next morning though we were all pleasantly surprised because the place were were staying at was in a gorgeous location. We felt like we were living right in the middle of a jungle!  It was so cool.  Adam had actually rented us a little bungalow to stay in, but they were unfortunately all booked up so we ended up getting one great big room on top of the owners house.
We loved exploring the next morning though and only wish we’d had more time to look around, but alas, we had a full day of being with the elephants planned and that was just slightly cooler than running around in jungles!  We did manage to snap a few pics of our surroundings though.

I had to capture this picture of Naveen putting our luggage up.  Poor guy had to do this every night and morning with big heavy bags.  He always did it with a smile on his face though. He has been so great!

And here are the blue throw up bags that literally SAVED us from having puke all over the car whenever someone got sick.  We brought three of them, and at one time had all three in use at the same time when 3 out of the 4 kids said they felt sick.  Then once they had been thrown up in, we would pull over, empty out the contents and then wash them out best we could with water.  These suckers were life savers though and caught 15 throw ups by the end of our trip.  Tender Mercy that we brought them all the way from America, right there…and remembered to take them on our trip with us!

Big squishy green caterpillar.  Reminds me of the ones from Alice in Wonderland.

This was where we ended up sleeping.  It was basically just one big room with 3 beds in it and a bathroom  Not quite the bungalow we’d been hoping for, but it had beds, which is all we all wanted at 1 in the morning.  It did the trick!

We sure were able to stay at some fun places during our trip!
