Sunset Stroll Around the Lake in Wayanad

While staying at the Lake house in Wayanad we ordered in some Indian food (which was actually the owners wife agreeing to make us some food).  However, because of the late request, it was going to take some time to prepare so we decided to go and take a walk along the lake while we waited.  To get to the lake we had to go through a gate in the backyard, and then down a little jungle like trail with big banana trees, huts with families in them, and even farmland.  It was really cool to feel like we were getting a little taste of how the good people in Wayanad lived.

Once we finally got down to the lake the views were breathtaking!

We so loved these purple water lilly’s that were all over!  I tried to pick one, but it was very swampy so our driver Naveen, ended up asking a local farmer if he could pick one for me.  He was very kind and ended up picking me an entire bouquet of them!  Wow!  I think I may have found my new favorite flower!  They were gorgeous!

Branson and Harry wanted to go explore further around the lake, but Dawson wasn’t having it.  The terrain was just too bumpy for him.  So Naveen offered to stay back with him for a few minutes and to wait for Adam and Ady (who were taking the slow track around the lake).  So the older boys and I kept going.

We saw this beautiful sunset as we walked.

When Adam and Ady finally caught up to us, they showed us this awesome necklace that Naveen made for Ady by punching the stem of the lilly and then tying it around back.  It was so cool and Ady loved it!

Then that evening after the wonderful meal the owners wife prepared for us, we broke out the games that came with the rental of the house!  The kids loved playing this Carram game with tokens that you have to hit into the corners.  Its basically the same as pool, but you hit tokens into each other instead of balls.

Adam taught Branson and Dawson how to play chess.

We sure did enjoy our little one nighter in Wayanad.  Our biggest regret of the week was that we only gave ourselves one night at this amazing place!
