Hotel Mount and an Indian Breakfast

Saturday morning the kids all got up about 8 (which was so nice for them to sleep in since we’d been up so late the night before) and we immediately started getting ready for the day and packing up so that we could enjoy most of the day without being in the heat.  But when we went down for what we thought was a “free breakfast” that came with the hotel, it ended up that;
1) The restaurant didn’t open until 9:30 (which would require us to wait for an hour).
2) That the hotel only served omelettes (which we are completely sick of because thats also what our apartment serves every morning).
3) that breakfast wasn’t even complimentary.
Three strikes and your out, so we ended up just going into town to try to fend for ourselves.  Before leaving the hotel though we did get in a little bit of exploring and were able to find some fun things!
A little bunny farm!

A shot of Adam and Naveen discussing what to do about breakfast (our hotel room is behind them on the 2nd floor).

A view of our hotel called “Hotel Mount.”

We found a fun waterfall!

And discovered the hotel pool.

Then we headed out into the tiny little town of Nandi to find us some breakfast.  I loved the tree lined streets!

We ended up finding a little shop off the street that served Indian food and although none of us were crazy about having Indian food for breakfast – we didn’t have a lot of options.  Adam ended up getting the kids what he thought was “sweet milk,” but it ended up being “salt milk” – which wasn’t a hit, but then also ordered some Purri (spelling?) which the kids do like. They are like little puffy crepe like things that you dip in gravy (which is usually spicy) but the owner gave the kids yogurt to dip them in instead.  Luckily that did the trick and all the kids were able to fill up their hungry tummies.

The good news is that our driver Naveen liked the “salt milk” and ended up drinking all three glasses for us!  Then the owner surprised us with a cup of sweet milk on the house.  Nice guy!  Below you can see what a puri looks like (pronounced poo-ree with a roll of the r).

Every moment in India is an adventure and we love it!
