On Saturday morning (our first full day with Mum and Smurf) we started the morning off right by 1) sleeping in, 2) warming up in our penthouse hot tub, and 3) eating wonderful Belgium waffles made by Smurf. It made for a nice and leisurely morning.
Speaking of sleeping in, I have to share a quick little story about our darling Adalynn who has a different version of sleeping in because its something that I just think is so cute and want to remember. When we are on vacation (or even at home sometimes), she almost always wakes up pretty early (anytime between 5:30 and 6:30). Her routine is to grab her purple polka dotted blanket, her pink care bear, and her Disney Pocahontus toddler doll and come and find Adam and I wherever we are. However, she doesn’t come in the room and scream “I’m here!” waking us up like you’d think she would. But she actually quietly (as quiet as a toddler can be) climbs up into our bed, climbs over whoever is in her way, and then nestles herself in between Adam and I covering herself with her blanket, and tenderly tucking her bear and doll in beside her.
The part I think is adorable though is that she always tries to find my hand so that she can hold it, as she drifts back to sleep. So there we are all snuggled in bed holding hands. She’s very adamant about holding hands too, and if she moves to straighten a blanket or I move to change my position, she will go searching for my hand and keep looking for it until she finds it again and can hold it. I just think its completely adorable and it melts me to lay in bed holding her hand. We sure love that little girl of ours – even if our sleep gets a bit interrupted from time to time. đ I treasure our morning snuggles together.
After breakfast and cleanup, we had made plans with Mum and Smurf to once again go and visit Snow Canyon (can you tell we love the place going there 3 days in a row?) We had a few more smaller hikes that we wanted to take with them that we read were highly rated. So with snacks and water and first aid kits packed, we were off!
Our first visit was to Jenny’s canyon which is a slot canyon named after a girl named Jenny who passed away in her High school years. The same year Adam graduated from High School if I remember right and she was about the same age he would have been. The canyon was beautiful and oh so fun to play around with as it had lots of mini arches, caves, holes, and areas where the kids could easily climb. Once again the boys were in their heavenly paradise being able to be rough and tumbly and explore to their hearts content. đ
The hike had a fun little look out point just before entering the slot canyon.
Please forgive my crazy outfit. When I had packed for our trip, I assumed the weather would be cold like it was up North and didn’t anticipate any hiking or outdoor activities. Therefore, all I brought was comfy lay around the condo clothes and swim suits for hot tubing. Not exactly hiking friendly, but we made due and I ignored the funny looks I got! ha!
Superman!
Sure was a fun little hike and a great way to start off our time in Snow Canyon.
