Christmas Day

On Christmas Eve we were telling Mum and Smurf that in the 8 years we’ve been parents that our kids have never woken us up early on Christmas morning. Ever. They are usually dead to the world until about 8 am and then usually its Adam and I that have to go wake THEM up because we can’t stand waiting any longer! 🙂 And yet, every Saturday morning they are up by 7:00.  Explain that! We aren’t complaining mind you.  Its always nice to sleep in, but we do think it’s funny.
This year though the kids must of overheard us and vowed to never sleep in again on Christmas morning, because by 6:30 am they were upstairs banging on the floor, yelling Merry Christmas, and calling out our names!  ha!  They were one excited group of kids!
We made them wait for a few minutes so that Adam and could go pee, get dressed, and get the camera ready, and then we made them wait a few minutes more so we could snatch some pictures of their Christmas goods before the room got destroyed in wrapping paper and boxes!
Adalynn’s loot.  Adam and I put out the kitchen for her (which we got for free from a neighbor) and then Santa brought her a new doll, some new dress up clothes, and a picnic basket.  She was one spoiled little girl.

Branson received some new church clothes, some Ninja and Ghome dress up clothes, as well as a new lunch box and a kids camera that not only takes pictures but also does games and photo editing!  He loved it! (He asked Santa for the camera).

For Dawson, Santa brought a Ninja and Transformers costume and then he also got a Jake and the Neverland Pirates ship, as well as two wii games.  Lego Batman and Lego Pirates.  He was sure excited (He had asked for Lego Pirates and was stoked when he got two games!)

For Harry Santa brought a Star wars Jedi costume, a Ninja costume, a lunchbox, new water shoes, and the Skylander Giants game and action figures.  (Harry had asked for the Skylanders game).

Santa also left some notes for the boys and you could tell from the crumbs on the plate that he had really enjoyed his cookies! 🙂

Adalynn didn’t quite get what to do at first, but then got excited when she realized how many cool new things she had to play with!  She loved her new necklaces and hair bows!

After going through stockings and trying on costumes, and then unwrapping presents from under the tree (from Mom and Dad) I asked the kids to put all their loot together so we could take a picture of what they had gotten.  Here you can see that Harry scored some new annoying orange swim trunks, some spiderman PJ’s, and a superman shirt along with some new school clothes, a jacket, and a new coat!  He also got a Minion which he has since named Bob (after him nickname of Harry Bob).

Dawson also got a new coat, some new annoying orange swim trunks and a batman Tshirt – but his favorite was his minion as well who he named ??? I forget.

Branson also received a new coat, some new school clothes and a minion doll as well whom he named Eggs!

Adalynn got some new Megablocks (which all the kids love), and some new bows and dishes for her kitchen.  She too scored some new clothes and a coat.

Adam was pretty spoiled this year and was able to get lots of new clothes (mostly from his favorite TV show Duck Dynasty) and then he also got some new church shirts, new swim trunks, new dress up clothes for Halloween, and then seasons 1 & 2 of Duck Dynasty, a battery tester, and a 3 TB Hard Drive.

I too was very spoiled and my big gift was my new HP Touchscreen laptop!  Then I also got some new shirts, a pair of sparkly bum jeans (my first pair!), and then two pairs of new boots.  I also got a book from Adam, some bubble bath, a few CD’s, and some reindeer poop (chocolate covered nuts) which I’m holding in the picture below.

A picture of the after math AFTER we cleaned up all the wrapping paper and garbage.

The rest of the day we spent at home playing with the kids and all their new toys, and then that evening we made a trip up to my parents house where we took them dinner.  They had just gotten back from their two week trip over to Asia for their 40th wedding anniversary and were jet lagged and feeling a bit sick, so we didn’t want them to have to cook a Christmas dinner or be alone on Christmas day.  So we went up and tried to take care of them best we could.  We ended up staying most of the evening hearing about the adventures they had on their trip and trying to look at their pictures.  (The computer wasn’t cooperating).

It sure was a wonderful day though and a beautiful Christmas day spent as a family.  We truly are so blessed and have so much to be grateful for.  Life is good.  Merry Christmas everyone!  đŸ™‚
