On Monday, we took things pretty easy in the morning; sleeping in, making a nice big breakfast, running on the beach, and then lifting in the weight room and then we took off for a day of fun! Our first stop on the agenda was to go down to a place in Daytona where they actually let you DRIVE on the beach! Adam and I thought this was one of the coolest things ever just being able to listen to tunes, drive along something so beautiful and soak in the sun. We had some fun taking pictures too, because, hey! Its not every day you get to drive a 2013 red Mustang on the beach! đ

We loved cranking the music, watching the waves, and having a picnic lunch right on the beach! Doesn’t get too much better than that! And a big thank you to the lady trying to sell us a timeshare for offering to take a picture of us! đ
After lunch we headed over into downtown Daytona to go and check out Angel and Phelps free chocolate factory tour. It was pretty cool to see learn how how they make their yummy chocolate but the best part for sure was being able to TASTE it at the end with their yummy free samples!
From there we decided we wanted to go out and hike one of the “preserves” in the area, but even after hiking and hiking and hiking for what seemed like forever we never really did see anything really cool or impressive. We pretty much just hiked to no-where. But we still had a marvelous time and had fun scouting out interesting creatures we “heard” in the bushes. Mostly we just saw huge spiders, grasshoppers, bees, snakes, birds, and then the occasional bike rider.
The preserve did have some pretty cool looking trees!
This bad boy was about as big as a quarter (just his body) with his legs he was probably about as big as a silver dollar. We asked someone about them later and came to find out that they are completely “harmless,” but they sure did freak us out when we ran into them!
Our last stop for the evening was to a beautiful beach down on the peninsula of Daytona. We had originally hoped to go down to take a tour of their awesome light house (which was very highly rated) but apparently we took a little too much time on our hike because we “missed” the last tour. Bummer! Oh well. We still had fun seeing the outside of the lighthouse and the beautiful beach surrounding it.
I just have to point out this cool little feature on the mustang. At night when you got out of the car, the door on the car would shine this symbol on the ground. It would stay there until you got back into the car hours later. Adam and I both thought it was very cool.
We ended our evening by eating a late dinner at a Chinese/Korean/Thai restaurant that pretty much served anything Asian. It was VERY highly rated though and had excellent food – although Adam wasn’t that impressed with the Korean. I loved it though and would definitely go back. I’m still craving the mango curry! Yum!
That evening we snuggled up to a couple of good movies and books and had fun calling home to talk to our little ones. We sure were starting to miss them, but we were also loving the chance to just re-connect and be together. How grateful I am for these special times when its just us two! I sure love that man of mine! đ
