Elder Youngs Birthday

A few weeks ago one of my very favorite people from my mission had a birthday!  Elder Young and I were both missionaries in Slovenia and at one point were fortunate to belong to the same district where we quickly became close friends.  In fact, pretty much everyone I served with in Slovenia I would count as a close and cherished friend – but then again I did serve in the best mission in the entire world, and only with 32 other missionaries (which means we got SUPER CLOSE), so would you expect any less? 🙂

I saw that Elder Young was having a birthday on facebook and so I quickly sent him a little birthday message wishing him a happy birthday and promising to make him a cake if he’d come and visit me! Well lucky for me…he is a sucker for birthday cakes!  ha ha! And he particularly likes visiting with former missionaries (as do I). So I was easily able to convince him to join our family for dinner and cake to celebrate his special day.  Yay for us!

It worked out perfectly too because I just so happened to be giving a presentation ON SLOVENIA that evening to the Young Women in my ward, so Jeremy helped me pick which souvenirs and pictures to take and what stories to share, and then he was there smiling and cheering me on as I spoke as well.

Afterwards he came with me back to our house where I made him up a Boston Cream Pie Cake for his birthday- sang him the birthday song in Slovene, and then spent the rest of the night all until 2:15 in the morning reminiscing about Slovenia, reading old journal entries and letters, and sharing wonderful stories from our mission.  It made my whole year to be able to spend that time with Jeremy and catch up with him!  What a wonderful friend and influence he is in my life!

UNFORTUNATELY my camera was very near dead when we took this picture and is the last picture taken with my OLD camera before my new one came.  But, It helps me to remember that wonderful night with a wonderful friend, so there you go!  Vse Najbolse Jeremy!  Thanks again for the cudovito visit! 🙂
