August in India

August this year was just a blur over here at the Egbert house.  Between going to the Wind Rivers for a week, my Papa’s death, Adalynn’s birthday, and swim lessons- we were always just running.
August was also the month for Adam to return to India again for 2 weeks to train some of his new hires and managers at Adobe.  The kids and I were sad about Ad having to leave again so soon, but we have loved that Adam is getting to use his International business degree and that he’s enjoying some adventures abroad!  We just wish he could pack us all up in his suitcase and take us with him! 🙂
Ad as usual had a wonderful time though and was able to do some sight seeing over the weekend to explore the area.  Hopefully I will be able to get him to contribute a little bit to this post to explain the pictures but for now – here they are!  All I know is that he was able to visit some temples, a palace, and ride an elephant.  The rest he will have to explain! 🙂

Ad mentioned that most of the meals in India either have a red dot by them or a green dot by them on the menu meaning that the dish is Vegetarian or has meat in it.  They apparently also color coordinate their BIBS with this system so that the waiters know which dish to bring to which person.  Sounds pretty ingenious!

This was a picture of some of the shoes Adam was looking at to buy for me.  He ended up getting the purple/silver pair which are fun and fancy!  He also ended up getting all the kids new flip flops as their prize for being good!

One of the Palaces he visited.

I love the bright colors!

This is a palace that they have made into a fancy hotel.  Ad says he’ll take me there one day…after he makes his millions. 🙂

Riding a miniature elephant statue in the lobby.

The temples in India are so ornate with the most amazing carvings.  Absolutely amazing!

Here is a closer look.  Notice the monkeys in the rafters!

Adam’s co-workers got really concerned with Adam when he took this picture of the monkey.  Apparently in India the monkeys will “slap you” if you get too close.  They were worried the monkey was going to slap Adam in the face or swipe his iphone.  The 2nd picture is of one of India’s enemies.  We have laughed many times how India erected a statue of their enemy instead of their hero – but to each his own.

The high light for Adam on this trip he said was getting to ride an elephant.  The best part?  It was only .60 cents.  Yep, you read that right.  It appears traveling by elephant is the most cost effective way to go!  He absolutely loved it though.  What amazing animals.

Trunk kissing?  I have no idea what is going on in this picture. 🙂

At the end of Adam’s trip all his co-workers threw him a going away party complete with an Indian cake and gifts (chocolates and a book).  They really do like him over there and seem to spoil Ad rotten whenever he visits.  They always ask him to come and move to India!  ha ha.  And he’s always really tempted.  Too bad his wife isn’t more of an adventurist! 🙂  We sure are glad to have our Daddy home though and glad he got to enjoy more time in India.  We sure missed him!
