St. George Condo

The last part of our family vacation was mostly spent making the long drive back to Utah – but once again we decided to break it up a little since our kids (and Mom) start going crazy after so many hours in the car.  Adam was able to find us an opening last minute at our condo in St. George and booked us for a one night stay Sunday evening.
We ended up leaving Uncle Clint and Aunt Carols right after dinner at about 5pm California time and then we made it to St. George that evening about 11 pm Utah time.  We were BEAT and instantly went right to sleep.  We got to see this beautiful sunset on the way home that night.

The next morning Adam had a bunch of work calls he had to be on and so it made sense just to stay and play at the condo for awhile instead of driving home so that he could talk without interruptions from a car full of kids.

The kids and I took full advantage of this and right after breakfast we went and hit the two pools and two playgrounds located on the condo’s property.  We were in pool and playground heaven!

Pool #1

All went pretty well at the pool until Adalynn slipped on a step and fell into the water face first (luckily I was right there to catch her) and then we had a second scare when Brans tried to go around Dawson (holding onto the edge of the pool) and Daws didn’t like that and kicked Brans out into the deep water. I had to hurry and put Adalynn down and jump into the pool to save him.  I was so proud of Brans though because he did all the right things (kicked his legs as hard as he could, called for help, and used his arms to keep himself afloat).  His head had just barely gone under when I got to him.  Sure scared the heck out of us both though.  I’ll be excited for swim lessons to start this August!

Playground #2

The 2nd pool we went to had a waterfall that I was able to swim Brans and Harry over to and they absolutely loved that.  They just thought it was so awesome to be underneath a waterfall.  The hot tub also seemed to be a favorite for all four kids.

This little one still has a huge aversion to water though.  She’ll put her feet in it but that is about it.
I love her face in this pic.  Its like she’s saying “don’t even think about making me go in further.”

At noon we had to check out of our condo and begin the final leg of our trip home.  We once again loaded everyone and all our luggage into the car and headed out stopping only once in Beaver for gas and lunch.

All in all we would say it was a successful family vacation.  It was definitely a lot harder taking kids on a cruise (as opposed to going on one as a couple), but the kids enjoyed themselves and we loved doing the cruise for the family reunion.  We also loved our side trips of spending the night in Vegas, the weekend in Torrence with family, visiting the Beach, and then stopping in St. George.   It sure was a great way to start out our summer vacation!
