Visiting Uncle Clint and Aunt Carol in California

The last morning of our cruise we spent sleeping in a bit, did some last minute packing, and then we headed up to the Lido deck to to get our last breakfast on the ship.  We luckily found a table open just as we arrived carrying our trays of food (someone was just leaving) so we hurried and snagged it since everything else appeared to be full.  It was a good thing too, because this ended up being our “waiting spot” where we spent quite a bit of time waiting for our disembarkation number to be called.  The kids were restless until we had the ingenious idea to pull out the tablet and let them watch a movie.  Thank goodness for technology.  They were going stir crazy! 🙂
When we did finally get off the boat Uncle Clint, Aunt Carol, and Adam’s cousin Bonnie had come with all our cars to pick us up (thank you again guys!) and then we headed back to their home in Torrence, California to spend the weekend.
Uncle Clint and Aunt Carol were perfect hosts and it was so wonderful to just be able to sit and talk and spend some quality time with them.  We just really love any chance we get to see them and feel a special bond with them considering Adam is named after his Uncle Clint (Adam Clint Egbert).  It was really fun too because Mum and Smurf and Adam’s Aunt Relda also spent the weekend at the same time- so it was a party!  We all loved being together!

One of the activities we did while visiting with Uncle Clint and Aunt Carol was to take the kids to a park just down the street while Mum and Smurf and Aunt Relda went to the Los Angelas Temple and Clint and Carol went to wash cars for their Young Womens Camp fundraiser.  It was a fun little outing that the kids really enjoyed.

The kids enjoyed playing on the playground and playing soccer with Adam until we discovered a fun climbing tree off in the distance.  That became our next family playground where we had fun taking turns climbing up!

My silly monkeys!

Most of our time together was spent eating delicious meals and catching up on one anothers lives.  One day Mumsie and her sisters (Aunt Relda on the left, and Aunt Carol on the right) made a delicious Strawberry Rubarb pie with Rubarb from Mumsie’s garden and strawberries freshly picked by Relda.  It was Yummy!!! (if you like Rubarb.) he he.

One of the kids favorite activities was playing outside with the “turdow” as Adalynn likes to call it.  Aunt Carol says she thinks Herman the turtle is almost 80 years old!  Wow!  His favorite food was rose petals.  The kids loved feeding him anything they could get their hands on though.

Love Uncle Clint!  He likes to call Adam “Adam-ondi-aman” ha ha

Aunt Carol and Uncle Clint – both turned 79 this year and were out washing cars for 4 hours Saturday morning for their Young Womans Fundraiser.  What an amazing couple!

On Sunday we were able to accompany Uncle Clint and Aunt Carol to church and then afterwards we were pleased as punch to visit with some of Adam’s cousins who live nearby and came for dinner.  It was wonderful to see and catch up with both Bonnie and Janene and their families.

It was sure a wonderful weekend spent with family!  Thanks again Uncle Clint and Aunt Carol for hosting us and for being such special people in our lives!  We love you so!
