Bransons birthday this year landed on a Sunday and so we decided to let him open up his presents a day earlier so he could enjoy them more – especially considering his big present this year was a new BIKE! đ He’d been asking for a “bigger bike” for a long time since no matter how many times we tell him to stop growing he does anyway. So when I saw this bike for a killer deal last year during an online Black Friday sale, I couldn’t resist myself and snatched it up. He LOVED it and immediately set out to put it together with Adam. An hour later he was out in the streets having the time of his life.
As a sort of funny side note to this – Harry immediately inherited Branson’s old bike and completely surprised us all when he just took off on it and was able to ride his first try! Whoa! So no training wheels needed. Branson held on to the back of Harry’s seat – pushed Harry off and whala! An instant success. Adam and I were in complete shock. So cool. Its been fun to see Harry and Brans ride around together.
Saturday afternoon Brans also helped me make his birthday cake (as is tradition) and I was able to talk him into making a Texas sheet-cake this year in lieu of his normal chocolate cake that he asks for and he was NOT disappointed. There is just something deliciously wonderful about the fudgy like cake of Texas sheet-cake that can’t be beat. I even “healthified” the cake putting in homemade applesauce in place of the sugar, greek yogurt in place of the sour cream, and wheat flour in place of the white. It STILL turned out fantastic and everyone asked for 2nd and 3rd helpings.
As is also tradition Branson picked out the theme of his cake which he wanted to be “Iron Man.” I was able to find some tiny Iron man figurines but the cake still needed more so Brans changed to a “super hero” cake instead and we were able to add a bit more. Then Brans decorated it all himself. He loved how it turned out.

Then on Bransons REAL birthday (Sunday) we started out the day with his choice of breakfast (which was egg, cheese, and bacon breakfast burritos, and then he also got to choose what he had for lunch (which I think was cold life cereal). EASY! Then after church we were able to have Nana and Papa, and Jess and Nicks family, and my Papa down to celebrate all the Harrison May birthdays. The party was originally supposed to be up at my Mom and Dads but we decided to move it down to our house here in Payson to make it easier for Jess and Nick. It was so fun to have everyone over and the food was fantastic! Here Branson is opening up his birthday present from Nana and Papa. A new glow in the dark Unicorn Pillow Pet. Branson LOVES it and hasn’t put it down since getting it (and keeps getting in trouble for taking it down to his friends houses.) ha ha.

For dinner Branson wanted hot dogs so we fired up the grill and had a BBQ and then everyone brought a side or two to share. Mom and Dad brought down some yummy homemade potato salad, veggie tray, and taquitos with all the fixins, I did a big fruit platter and the cake, and then Jess and Nick brought their awesome ranch pasta salad that I LOVE. Needless to say…nobody went hungry.
Sure was a wonderful way to celebrate Branson’s birthday!
We sure love you buddy and are so glad you are a part of our family!
