Adalynn Jani (19 months)

My Dearest Darling Baby Girl,

How is it that you can be so adorable and continue to increase the joy and love in our home so much?  You have been such a gift to have in our family and truly just a special precious spirit that adds so much to our lives.  Oh how we love you!

You have both Daddy and I wrapped around your little fingers and you pretty much know it too.  All of us in the family adore you and your brothers are especially fond of you and love being around you.  And lucky for them you like them too.

Right now you love anything soft.  This includes your favorite purple pocka-dotted blanket that you MUST have with you all throughout the day.  You pull it out from your crib the second you get up in the morning and get upset when we ask you to put it down to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner.  It follows you wherever you go all day and you just love it.  This is the same if you find your little white soft coat as well.  It becomes your lovey and you get upset if we try to take the coat off you or hang it up after you’ve been outside.  You just love to have it near you and to carry it around and feel of its softness and you like to nuzzle your face into during the day and go mmmmmm.  Its pretty cute.
Speaking of nuzzling – we love that about you.  Dad was just pointing out this week how if he is standing up that you will come and put your face into his legs and just nuzzle into them.  Or sometimes when he picks you up you will nuzzle your head down into his neck or chest.  He loves it, as do I and its so nice that you still love to snuggle and be close.

You have recently learned to talk like crazy and its been so fun to hear all the words you are saying.  You can do most of your animal sounds, name most of the animals in books (or at least repeat them after Dad or I say them) and you try to say almost every word we say.  You are even doing a few sentences which we find adorable.  Mostly “I anna go” (I want to go) and “I awn outside” (I want to go outside).  You can definitely tell us what you want now which is cute.  “I anna nack” (I want a snack).  our favorite right now is that we love how you say turtle as it comes out as “turd-ow.”  You also say all of our names really cute now and just recently started saying “Mommeeee” and “Dadeeeee” and Heweeee (Harry).  You also say Dawsssss and Zazz for Dawson, and you call Branson “Bass” “Bens” or “bub.”  He loves it and often will call himself that as well.  “Do you want to come to Bub?”  “Do you want Bass to take you outside?”

Most mornings now you will call for us when you get up saying “Mommmmeeeeeeeee”  “Dadddddeeeeee”  until one of us comes and gets you.  You usually go to sleep at 7:30 or 8:00 at night and then wake up at 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning.  Then you still take a mid morning nap from around 9:30 to 11:00 and then an afternoon nap from 1:30 to 3:30.  We love what a great sleeper you are.  Last night you came down with a cold though and kept getting up over and over again crying even after giving you medicine and up with you 4 or 5 times.  Finally Daddy decided just to let you sleep with him and he rigged up a little crib for you by pushing two of our living room chairs together.  It made the perfect bassinet and helped you to sleep better knowing Daddy was nearby.  You are usually so easy to put to sleep though and only require us to snuggle with you for a minute (where we put your blanket on our shoulder and you lay your head on it and nuzzle into us) and then we lay you down in your crib on your back with your soft pig pillow under your head and put your purple pocka-dot blanket over you.  Then we give you a binky (but even that isn’t necessary) and then pull down on your little lamb that plays you a lullaby.  You usually go right out without a fuss.  Babysitters think you are amazing that way!

Right now you are a really big eater and would probably eat all day if we let you.  People are amazed by how much you can put down.  You usually start off with an 8 oz bottle every morning of either rice milk or almond milk (you had goats milk after I stopped pumping breast milk at 14 months and were on that until you were 17 months old)  and then usually for breakfast you have fruit.  Your favorite is bananas, but you also often have blueberries, mandarin oranges, apples, or pears too.  You also LOVE bread and will eat it plain.  You like cereal but seem to prefer it as a snack rather than a breakfast item as you won’t eat a lot in your high chair.  For lunch you usually have more fruit, or you like cucumbers and tomatoes in italian dressing, or whatever left over we are having.  You will eat most foods but so far seem to have an aversion to eating peas and green beans.  Those are the veggies Dawson hates too so you are like him that way (Branson doesn’t like tomatoes and Harry doesn’t really hate anything other than spinach he says – but that one he still has to eat).

You still struggle with staying your high chair which is one of our biggest issues with you.  You just always are standing up in it which makes Daddy and I really nervous.  Our floors are tile and it wouldn’t take much for you to have a bad spill and get hurt or worse.  So recently we’ve been giving you your meals on the little kids table that is just your size.  You like eating there but you make a terrible mess and usually end up taking your food with you all over the rest of the house which isn’t ideal.  You also LOVE to sit up at the big table with all of us and especially like sitting on Mom and Dad’s laps to eat some of our dinner.  For some reason ours tastes much better than the stuff we gave you on your plate.  We laugh about that because if we try to feed you something from your own plate you will have nothing to do with it but if its from ours you take it right down.  You make us laugh.

Right now you are also crazy about clothes and shoes.  You love getting into drawers and pulling out every item inside of them and then scattering them all over the house.  You’ve gotten into your brothers underwear drawer numerous times, my shirt drawers, all my bathing suits, taken out every pair of shoes that I own, pulled out every hat out of the hat box, and you do the same to your own drawers in your room too.  You leave a mess of destruction in your wake everywhere you go.  You also love to do the same to my kitchen drawers and so I feel like I’m picking up pots and pans and lids and other items all day.  I will say though that you are very good at cleaning up when I ask and I try to compliment you often for that by saying “good girl listening!”  Which you repeat by saying “good gull.”

You love wearing bows in your hair and hats on your head and love it when I put on your socks, shoes, and coat.  You know that means we get to go outside and you are crazy about that!  You seem to enjoy the sunshine just like me and could be out in it all day.  You love to play balls out on the porch, take rides in the wagon, or play in your little car or on your scooter bikes.  You also LOVE dirt.  You love to throw it, touch it, play with it, eat it, you name it.  You just love it.  I can usually keep you distracted from it but the second you see me start pulling weeds or doing anything in the dirt, you want in too and before long you are a filthy mess.  Its all good though…it just means you’ll be a fabulous camper! 🙂

Your favorite toys to play with right now are balls funny enough and we will sit and play catch for 20-30 minutes almost everyday.  You also seem to like the boys mega blocks and making things out of those and you LOVE to draw on paper with crayons.  You also love love love books and will sit and bring them to Dad and I all day over and over and over again to look at the pictures and say words.  You don’t like us to actually read to you but just want us to point at a picture and say what it is. Then you like to repeat us.

Right now you also love to look out windows.  If I’m on my bed you will say “up” over and over again until I pull you up with me and then you immediately say “outside” so that I will pull the blinds up and let you look out.  You also love to look out my bedroom window and often I’ll get you a stool to sit on and you will sit and watch your brothers or neighbor kids playing outside.  You love knocking on the glass and will scream things out at them.

You also really love helping.  Whether its by getting us the broom and dust pan or getting stuff out of the dishwasher and handing it to us you love to help.  When we ask you to clean up you will go and pick stuff up and put it away and you do a pretty good job of it too.

We also love how you give kisses as you’ll stick out your bottom lip and then make a mmmm sound and bring your head to ours.  Its super cute and once again melts our hearts.  We love how affectionate and sweet you are.

In short Adalynn you brighten our everyday and bring such a wonderful dynamic to our family by being such a sweet and adorable girl.  We sure are glad that Heavenly Father blessed us with your wonderful spirit. We love you baby girl!

Yours forever,
Mommy pants
