Our Dearest Little Harry Bob,
You two are growing up so fast and really its crazy to me to think you will be in first grade this coming August. First grade! I swear it was just a few months ago that I was helping out in your preschool class. Would all of you kids just stop all this growing you are doing? I want you to be my babies forever!
Harry you are such an amazing helper. Daddy and I were talking just this last week about how awesome you are every Saturday doing jobs. You almost never complain and even if you do its usually just for a moment and then you come out of it and get your jobs done quickly. You finish one job, and then come bounding down the stairs to find out which job you can do next. Your positive attitude is so refreshing and you are a hard and fast worker.
Right now you are really crazy about earning marbles. Almost every morning this week you have gotten up early and in addition to getting ready for school you find time to pick up the living room, put shoes away, wipe off a table etc. because you know that if you are helpful without being asked Mom will most likely give you a marble. You filled up you jar today and your choice of special privilege or prize that you wanted was to stay up late all week and play games with Dad. Now your brothers are both super motivated to fill up their jars as well so that they can join in the fun too.
We also started giving all you kids marbles at night if you are able to tell us what we read in the scriptures that day. You are always VERY good at listening and haven’t missed a marble a single day since we started doing that. And I can tell you have been working hard at having a good attitude when I ask you to do something. “Sure Mom. I’ll get right on that.” It makes me laugh.
You are still really into computer games, xbox games, and watching TV right now and whenever I ask you what your favorite thing to do is, you always say “playing games with Dad” meaning playing games on the xbos or wii. However I’m happy to say that with the warming up of the weather you are finally starting to go outside a bit more. During the winter you would literally FREAK out at times if Dad or I tried to get you to go outside and play in the snow as you really hate being cold. Really hate it. And you’d fight us tooth and nail anytime we wanted to take you sledding or to build a snowman or play.
You are usually good at finding things to do around the house though when your TV/Computer time is up though and often I will see you putting together a puzzle, drawing a picture, or playing a game by yourself or with your brothers from the game closet. You also still like to dress up like a super hero, play with your cars and trains, and make forts all over the house.
You are still a very tender and sensitive child too and Dad and I have to really watch what we say to you and are very careful not to tease you when you are emotional. But sometimes you are just emotional no matter what we say. One day you cried because you didn’t want to eat the pancake I made you in the shape on an H for your name. It was just really special to you and it made you sad to eat it. Another day you cried because you couldn’t decide where you wanted to go for your birthday that was 6 months away, and another day you cried because you go a big cup and wanted a small one. We just never know when the emotions are going to surface. You know what though – both Daddy and I were tender when we were little too and I would cry whenever I got the old maid when playing games! My parents still tease me about that today. All it means is that you will be a sensitive and loving person when you get older and what a great quality that is to have! You do cry when you don’t win games though too. So we are definitely one in the same there! ha ha.
You are really becoming amazing at reading now too. Just this last week when I was reading with you for your 20 minute homework assignment all the sudden you could just do it without help. When did that happen? You literally read an entire book with me only needing to help you on a few words and some of them were hard words like “noisy” and “summer.” You have really come along way and are reading like a champ! You are also so good about doing your homework after school each day and almost every night you beg me to do the dishes after dinner. That is your favorite after dinner job and you love rinsing all the dishes and then handing them to Dad or I to load in the dishwasher.
One of the things we love most about you though is your giggle and smile. It really is contagious and so stinkin’ cute! You also have the best king fu moves, and are so fun to watch after a movie is over because without fail you will get up and dance to the music while the credits are playing. I do this too and we have a ball dancing together. We even do it at movie theaters where we get a lot of laughs! You sure are fun to be around!
You seem to make friends easy too and Mrs. Evans is always saying how adorable you are and what a good boy you are. She’s never had a problem with you and always tells me how cute you are. That you and Branson are so close and that sometimes when she’s asked you to write a story about such and such that you will ask her if you can write a story about me instead because you really just love me and miss me. You certainly do know how to melt my heart!
In short Harry bob, you are such a treasure to have in our family and we love you Oh so very much! Thanks for being in our lives and making our family fun!
Love, your very own Mommy
