Right after I returned from my trip to Mexico I got an email one day from my sweet sweet Shantel whom I served with for 8 months on my mission and lived with post mission. Shantel has been one of my best friends since pretty much the day we met on our missions and I can’t say enough about how much I adore and love this girl and her darling family! So you can imagine my glee and excitement when her email said she was going to be in town that weekend and wanted to get together. The smile on my face was priceless and you couldn’t wipe it off my face for anything! đ
Shantel and Ryan arrived that Sunday right before church and so we were able to go and attend our ward together. I loved having Shan in my Sunday School class as I just happened to be sharing a few experiences from my mission during the time we were together and having her there just was really special. We also had to laugh when one of my favorite ward friends (Mary Henderson) ended up being one of Shantel and her husband Ryan’s favorite friends during their time in the single ward. It was fun to establish that connection that we had in common and a ball for Ryan and Shantel to see Mary again. She sure is one great lady.
After church we came back to our house for a big Roast dinner and then we pretty much just spent the rest of the night talking and laughing and catching up on each others lives. It was so fun to share old mission stories (“Why don’t you just rip my arm off and hit me with it”), and share in some of the joys, frustrations, and craziness thats gone on in each of our lives since the last time we had seen each other (which was 1.5 years ago). Its always as if a day hasn’t gone by when we get together though.
We were lucky enough to have Shantel and Ryan and their darlings spend the night and then we had a big pancake breakfast the next morning before sending our friends off. Sure do love these folks though and the examples they are to us. We certainly have been so blessed to have them in our lives. Thanks again for coming guys! We so heart you! đ
