Day 5 in Mexico – Playa Del Carmen

On Tuesday of our Mexico Trip we decided it was high time we went into Playa Del Carmen for some true girly time of shopping and massages.  I had done a lot of research online before going and found a great little massage shop called “Magic Hands” that had a ton of five star ratings on trip advisor.  So after a leisurely breakfast and meandering around our resort we hailed a taxi and took off for a day of girly fun!

Our first stop was to the Massage parlor where we had set up a 1 hour couples massage for $50 for the two of us.  Booya! This was the first time either my Mom or I had ever had an hour long massage and we couldn’t BELIEVE how fast the time went.  Mom originally just thought 1/2 hour massage would be just fine, but this was my present to her for her birthday so I splurged and went for the hour long massage instead. We were both SO glad we did went the extra half hour as this probably was one of the BEST days of our trip.  We both absolutely LOVED our massages and wanted to go back the next day.  And it was perfect timing considering our muscles were all sore from weight lifting the day before.  But seriously we loved, loved, LOVED this time together and the amazing way we were able to completely RELAX and be pampered.  Such a wonderful day!

Afterwards we got dressed and then headed out to do a little souvenir shopping for our loved ones.  I loved these little wooden puzzles but they were asking a fortune for them so I just took pictures of them instead.  So creative though!  My favorite are the Mexican wrestlers! 🙂

Then we headed down to the beach where we just spent an hour or so walking in the sand and sharing a snack of nuts, granola bars, and chocolate.  We met a nice Canadian woman whose first language was French and had fun learning about her life up in Canada.  It was fun to talk to her and learn of some of her adventures and trips.  My favorite was hearing about a trip she took with her friend who is a truck driver.  She went with her on one of her long hauls across America and told us all about how it worked to sleep in the truck and what the life of a truck driver is like.  It was very interesting.
The beach in Playa Del Carmen was BEAUTIFUL!

Later that afternoon we headed back to the hotel room after taking a Taxi home from Playa Del Carmen where we rested a bit and took showers.  Then we went out to eat at another one of the resorts specialty restaurants for some Chinese food.  We were not disappointed!  It was really tasty stuff.  We ended the night by watching movies, calling home, and reading in our books!  Another great day in Mexico!
