Payson Lakes Picnic

This last Saturday – after plans with our Jurashic friends fell through – we decided to head up Payson Canyon to spend the afternoon in the great outdoors.  So after Saturday jobs were done – we packed a picnic lunch and to the hills we went.  Being up in the mountains has always been something that just fills Adam and I, but we especially enjoy the fall season when all the leaves are changing.  Every turn is just so breathtakingly beautiful. We sure do love our mountains!
We decided this trip to head up to Payson Lakes -which we had only driven by once before without stopping.  Oh my.  It was gorgeous!  The leaves up there were the most brilliant yellow I’ve ever seen and I loved the reflection of the mountains on the Lake.
We started out our adventure by driving through the Payson Lakes campground until we found a great spot to set up and have our picnic.  We found a nice little spot nestled right next to the mountain and the kids loved climbing up the “super steep” hill together and then running down while Adam and I got a fire started for our dogs and tinfoil dinners.

Then after lunch we cleaned up, packed out, and headed over to the Lake to do a little hiking.  See what I mean?  GORGEOUS!

We ended up hiking around the entire Lake which was super fun and really easy considering it was PAVED the entire way.  Adam and I took turns holding Sis on our shoulders and running after boys. 🙂

I Loved how the light hit the yellow leaves illuminating them even more – so Pretty!

Then after our hike was over we headed back down the canyon – but ended up stopping every few minutes to take pictures.  I was in fall heaven!  The colors and scenery were just amazing!

I sure do love this beautiful time of year and making special memories with my family!  Life is good.
