Earlier this summer when Adam and I were looking at our calendar – we realized that we had two trips planned up North with a 4 day break in between them. Instead of drive all the way home just to drive all the way back that way a few days later I suggested to Adam that we go and spend some time with one of my very favorite people in the world. Sister Mary Lou Wilding.
Sister Wilding and her husband Reed ( who passed away exactly one year ago today) were one of the Senior couples in my mission to Slovenia. And it was there that we became very close. So close that the Wildings stood in for my parents the day I was sealed to my Adam in the temple. So close that we have gone to Bear Lake together, Yellowstone together, and spent many nights up at their place and them at ours. We consider them family and I’m pretty sure they feel the same way about us.
So spending 4 days up at the Wildings just seemed like a perfect thing to do. So I was able to contact Sister Wilding and she (bless her heart) was THRILLED with the idea of us coming up to see her AND THRILLED with the prospect of coming to the Wind Rivers Range with us which is also one of her favorite places to go as well.
So after our Jackson Reunion was over we headed over to her place to visit for 4 days until our next adventure of camping in the Wind Rivers began. One of the awesome things we did while visiting Sister Wilding was to attend the Rexburg International Dance Festival Parade. This festival is amazing and involves dancers from all over the world who come in to showcase their countries traditional dances. And if you know me…you know that I LOVE dance. LOVE IT! So being able to go and see just a small sample of their dancing was amazing! Sister Wilding and I ended up staying for the whole thing while Adam went home and put sleepy kids to bed. It was one awesome night! Below are some pics. from the parade.
Indonesian Dancers
Japanese Dancers (who I later was able to dance WITH – when they asked for audience participation). Super fun!
Poland
Cute kids – with an American dancer to the right. The American team was incredible and had like 20 different costume changes and lots of different styles of dancing from America over the ages. Really cool.
Sure was an amazing night! Thank you Sister Wilding for taking us!
