On Tuesday July 10th we had another day at Sea but technically we were cruising to go and see Glacier Bay which you can only get to by boat. When our cruise ship arrived it spent about an hour watching the glacier and during that time we saw about 7 or 8 BIG pieces of glacier ice calve (or come off and fall into the ocean). It was INCREDIBLE and I have some awesome video footage of several of the calvings we saw. Here are some pictures from our day at Sea.
We got within about 50 feet of the Glacier. So Neat!
The Seagulls loved these big pieces of glacier that would fall into the ocean because many of them when they melted would be chuck full of frozen shrimp! 🙂 I also love how you can see the different years of life in this one piece of ice.
I thought it was interesting how the water was two different colors. The brown being the dirtier water from the melting glacier and the blue being the normal ocean water.
Another view of the different colors of ocean water
We also passed this other glacier as we were heading back out to open ocean
Later that afternoon Adam and my Mom and I decided to head down for a dip in the indoor pool and hot tub. I’m not sure what we are doing in this picture – but I like it anyway!
We were REALLY excited to see some Blue Sky finally! We had missed the sun!
And the break in the clouds made for an AWESOME sunset!
Have I mentioned lately how much we enjoyed our cruise?
