Mothers Day

Mothers Day as usual (because of my AMAZING husband) was nothing short of awesome!  Adam is always so good to spoil me rotten, giving me an entire day off from diaper duty, cooking, cleaning, etc.  He made me breakfast (waffles with raspberry syrup and a green smoothie), picked me a bouquet of flowers, got the kids all ready for church, started a roast in the crock pot, and then even took naughty kids (Dawson) out during sacrament meeting so that I could enjoy the talks.  He also took pictures of the kids and me outside before church (a tradition I started about 3 years ago).  Some of which I just found on our camera!  Saweet!

After church Adam put Adalynn and Dawson down for naps and then completely took over in the kitchen getting dinner ready that evening where we were having my Mom and Dad and Papa over to celebrate Mothers Day.  I felt so spoiled getting my Mommy all to myself that day and the thought of her coming just made my Mothers Day all that much sweeter.  I sure do love my Mommy and am so SO grateful that she is mine.  What a gift and blessing she is in my life.  I was able to make my Mom a beautiful bouquet of flowers, write her up a mushy card, and then give her some chocolate covered strawberries.  And yet, SHE ended up bringing me a present of a big beautiful potted raspberry plant that already has several berries budding!  Wow!  She is so good to me.  I’m also so blessed to have an incredible Mother in law.  Seriously, I scored when it comes to the family I was raised in and the family I married into.  What a lucky girl I am!

For dinner Adam made a big roast, mashed and crockpot potatoes, gravy, carrots, green beans, broccoli, flaky biscuits, and a spinach berry salad with homemade poppy seed dressing!  YUM!

The rest of the afternoon we spent talking with my Mom and Dad and Papa, catching up about the rest of the family, and showing Mom and Dad some of the work we’ve been doing in the yard.  Then we came in and were able to plan more of our Alaska trip that we are taking together this summer to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and my Mom and Dads 39th anniversary.  We even booked our tickets!  Yay! We ended the evening with some Banana Cream Pie.

Afterwards Adam cleaned up the entire kitchen single handedly and then wrote me up the most beautiful letter.  I wanted to include it here for remembrance sake.  It was so special and brought tears to my eyes!  I want to treasure it always.  Sure do love that Adam of mine!  Thanks sweetie for making my Mothers Day the best day ever!

“Dearest Sarah Marie,

As I lay next to you at the end of this Mothers day, I finally get a chance to record what I have been thinking about all day.  You are such a wonderful mother of our family.  I hope I can express a few of the ways you influence us for righteousness.

You are a great example of love.  You are always making those around you feel loved.  You have such a strong desire to do what is right.  You want the spirit in your life and want to share the spirit with all around you.  You take time with each of your children individually each day.  Whether to play ball, snuggle, aks about their day, read a book together, work together, or chat on the deck.  You let them know how important they are by spending your precious time with them.

You are diligent and don’t give up easily.  Even if its hard to find healthy meals that are easy to make, you still stick with it.  You sacrifice for your family each day.  Often you will give up a nap or other deserved respite to address the needs of your family.  You are organized and methodical.  You keep our house in order despite its natural inclination towards chaos.  You are always learning.  If you are not in school you are trying new recipes or other arts and activities that stretch your abilities and capabilities.

You are seldom without a smile on your face.  I have had several people ask me if you ever get mad.  They see the inner light that you possess and freely share.  You are industrious.  You always have a list of things to do and projects to be accomplished.

In short, you are an amazing woman of Zion and you are extremely loved by your family!  We are so lucky to have you in our lives.  Thanks for being ours!  Thanks for making us yours.  We love you.  We love you. We love you.

All our adoration,
Adam and Co.”
