Almost SEVEN!

This coming Saturday is Bransons birthday.  And. He’s turning seven.  SEVEN!  I still can’t believe it.  This fall he will be entering the 2nd grade.  And a year from now he will be getting baptized.  Wasn’t it just like a month ago that I was holding him in my arms for the first time?  SLOW down boy!  Can’t you just stay little?

My dearest sweet Branson,
You are such a joy to have in our family!  I love what a little helper you are.  This year especially you have REALLY been awesome.  You are such a good son and brother and usually do things cheerfully and with a good attitude which we appreciate you so much.  You absolutey LOVE your baby sister and are always happy to help her, hold her, feed her, or do anything else she needs.  Adalynn instantly gets a huge smile on her face when you walk in the room, and you often are the best at getting her to smile.
Right now you are in the first grade and you absolutely love your teacher Mr. White.  You have done really well this year in school and are an outstanding student, friend, and reader.  When I ask you what your favorite part of each day is you usually say “recess” or “when Mr. White reads to us.”  You are my social little boy that loves being around people.

At home your favorite things to do are to draw, color, have me give you “art lessons,” and dance. Your love for dance makes me happy (since I love it too) and I love the way you “shake your booty” when I ask you too.  Its ridicuously cute and you bring a smile to my face.  Your favorite is when we dance together.  You love to hold my hands and swing in circles or do twists and turns together.

You recently started cooking on your own and now know how to make your own easy mac, (measuring out the water and everything). You make your own lunch each day (usually consisting of a sandwich and fruit), and then you are also a huge help in the kitchen.  You help do dishes after dinner, can clear counters, empty the dishwasher, dust, vacuum, and you even clean bathrooms (although its your least favorite job to do! Mine too!)

Your favorite friends to play with right now are Jacey Muir, Eden Reed, Wade Hoover, Brady and Landon Cox, Sienna Harvey, Sammy Jurgens, and Tatum from your class.  You still LOVE movies (Phineas and Ferb being your favorite) and playing the xbox (especially with Daddy).

Your favorite toys at the moment are mostly dress up clothes.  You favorite being Iron man.  You have a Lion that looks like Alex from Madagascar that you like to sleep with and you named him Larry.  You’ve kind of outgrown playing with most toys though and usually prefer reading books, doing puzzles and other games in magazines, playing with friends, or learning new things from Mom and Dad.  You LOVE it when we sit down on my laptop and look up stuff that you are interested in, or when Daddy lets you pick out one of his encyclopedia books where you learn all sorts of things about animals, people, and the world.  You seem to thirst for knowledge.

Your favorite color is still GREEN with Orange coming in at a close second.  However, lately you have been asking for bowls or cups that are pink and purple because we have been telling you boys that pink and purple remind us of Sissy so we like to use those colors.  We are mainly trying to help your brothers not FREAK out if they get a girl colored bowl – but you are the only one who doesn’t freak out over those colors- because you really do love your sister.  Its really cute.

Right now you are very affectionate and sweet.  When you leave the house you will always come and give me a great big hug and then tell me you love me.  You also always ask to sit on my lap, and HAVE to give me a kiss before you go to bed every night.  It can’t just be that I kissed you…you have to kiss me too, or give me a hug.  You absolutely LOVE it when I write you little notes and put them in your backpack or draw you a picture and I’m pretty sure that little gifts like that is your love language because you BEAM for days after you get one and save all of those little things for ages in safe places.  You are also SO good at doing things like that for others and both Dad and I have countless notes and drawings that you have done to show us you love us.  You are sure a special boy!

Your relationship with your brothers is pretty good.  You and Harrison seem to get along better right now than you and Dawson – and often you and Harry are playing with the same group of friends.  Sometimes you two butt heads but for the most part you do everything together.  Dawson on the other hand you struggle with.  Dawson likes to say things that don’t make sense to you – like tell you a cup is blue when it is actually orange.  And that drives you absolutely nuts and the two of you will argue and yell about that until either Dad or I come in and intervene.

Some or your nicknames right now are Brans, Branny flakes, Flakes, B to the hood, and Nosnarb (which is Branson spelled backwards).  Your favorite food is still Fettucini Alfredo (that Mom makes), or homemade pizza and you love chocolate in any form (cake, cookies, oreos, etc.)

In short Brans we are so grateful you are in our family and we LOVE you so very much! You brighten our lives and have such a strong desire to choose the right (although we are struggling right now with some occasional lieing).  Each night you make sure we read our scriptures and say our prayers and then you are always the first to tell whomever prayed what you love about them (a tradition we do in our family during family prayers).  You are so good at making people feel loved and are specific in your compliments and sincere with your praise.

We sure love you buddy!  Thanks for being a part of our family!
