Easter Baskets

On Easter Sunday we spent a little while at breakfast talking about our Savior and the true meaning of Easter.  We’ve also been talking about the resurrection as a family for FHE and throughout the week as we’ve been doing Easter festivities.  Then afterwards we sent the boys on a hunt to find their baskets.  Branson’s was hidden in our closet behind some of my long dresses.  Harry’s basket was in our shower hanging up, and Dawsons was in the kitchen behind a fake bush.
We played the hot/cold game to help Dawson find his but the older boys were required to look on their own.  If they got too far gone we’d give them a few clues – but eventually they were both able to find their loot!  All three boys loved their baskets which were mostly filled with fun things to play with (as opposed to goodies that we are trying to cut down on in order to be more healthy).
Harrison’s basket consisted of a water bottle with his name on it, a yo yo, outdoor chalk (in the shape of eggs), a Spiderman ball, a flute, water gun, and a little bit of candy.  He was in boy heaven!

Dawson received a new Dora the Explorer coloring book, a fishing pole, water bottle, ball, and squirt gun along with a little bit of candy as well.  His favorite was the fishing pole and he and the other boys played with that one most of the day!

Branson got a new butterfly net, ball catcher, water bottle, and a bubble kit.  His favorite thing to do was to put his butterfly net in the bubble solution and make tons of tiny bubbles all over our deck!  Later he invited his friends over to experience the fun as well.

Luckily we have 11 church so we were able to our baskets in the morning and then we also sent the boys on an indoor and outdoor egg hunt.  They boys always enjoy searching high and low for eggs and Mom and Dad love hiding them!

We had a wonderful Easter program at church and truly felt a marvelous spirit.  We are so thankful for the knowledge we have that we have a Savior that died for us and lives for us and who knows us and loves us.  We testify that he lives!  What a blessing the gospel of Jesus Christ has been to us!

That night we continued celebrating by eating a ham and cheesy potatoes dinner, complete with flaky biscuits, strawberry spinach salad, and a big fruit platter with my favorite fruit dip!  Sure was yummy!  Then we took a family stroll around our neighborhood.  It was such a beautiful day!  Hope you had a wonderful Easter too!
