That night we mostly just talked and played some games and were able to hear some really special and sacred experiences that Mum and Smurf shared with us about how they came to live in Smithfield after grad school as well as some of their advice on raising great kids. They sure are great examples to Adam and I and I’m so grateful to be married into such a great family!
On Monday morning we had some yummy waffles, sausage, and juice for breakfast and then Adam and I were able to take off for a day on the slopes just the two of us – while Mum and Smurf played with the kids. It was SOOOO nice to be up in the mountains again on the slopes after an 8-10 year break. Man did I miss it. But boy was it exhausting!
When we first arrived in the parking lot – funny enough too – we ran into my very best friend in High School Tyrone Frazier who lived across the street from me in Alpine. We’ve managed to remain good friends over the years and Adam just adores Tyrone and his wife Emily just as much as I do. Tyrone was up with his cousin Joe and all their kids for one of their last ski trips that season. We loved seeing how even their little little kids could ski – and it got us excited to bring our kids the next day.
Half way through the day too, at around lunch time, I broke off from Adam to get a bite to eat (Ad wanted to continue skiing) and once again ran into Tyrone and Joe and the kids in the Lodge where they too were eating lunch. It was fun to be able to catch up with them and their families. Then Ad and I were off to hit a few more runs together before heading back.
When we returned from skiing I had promised the boys I’d take them hot tubing so down to the hot tub we went. I love this picture of all of them snuggled up in their towels. It may look like a nice day but it was still COLD!!!
That evening we had Musaman Curry over rice for dinner with steamed veggies and salad and then settled in for a movie night. On Tuesday Mum and Smurf made us a yummy breakfast of bacon, eggs, and hash browns and then we headed out for another afternoon of skiing. This time with the kids. We unfortunately weren’t able to find enough “little kid” ski’s for all three boys but we did find one pair so we just had the boys take turns skiing down the hill with Daddy. It worked out best that way anyway because only one of us could be out there at a time since we still had Sissy and Dawson to watch. Branson and Harry absolutely LOVED it though and couldn’t stop talking about how fun it was. We will definitely have to make this a tradition each year.
