Valentines Day!

Valentines this year was just absolutely wonderful.  Adam and I had gone out to celebrate the weekend before Valentines with some friends of ours the Kerics and Jurgens – by going to a dinner show at the Old Spaghetti Factory at the University Mall.  There we were graced with the presence of Sir Lancelot, Gweneviere and all the characters in Camelot – and even received a special visit from a sid the sloth jester! (she was our favorite).  We dined on Italian food and ice cream and then had fun watching Adam declare his  love for me by having to toot a kazoo during the evenings show every time he heard the word camelot – and call me his favorite pet name of “Bearaboochie” in front of the entire crowd!  It was quite the night.  We even got to dance at one point and had fun acting crazy with our friends.
For the real Valentines I didn’t expect much at all (since we’d already agreed that was our Valentines to each other) but my darling sweet husband really went the extra mile and presented me with THIRTEEN roses AND he had painted a black shelf thingy maggiger that I had found at a 2nd hand store that I wanted to use to hang my necklaces – all without my knowledge.  When I woke up and found the shelf all painted black for me I just about melted with love for my darling sweetheart.  He really knows just what to do to show me he cares.

To show our love for our darling little niblets – we did several fun things – one of which was a scavenger hunt around the house to find some Valentines baskets I had put together.  We played the hot/cold game to help those that needed it and the kids were thrilled with the loot they got in their baskets as seen in the picture below.  Mommy also made pink heart shaped pancakes for dinner with pink milk and then each of the boys got their own special cookie I had made for them as well.

That day I had also made a plethora of sugar cookies – one for each of the boys and then a HUGE one for Adam.  Sugar cookies were Adam’s Moms way of celebrating Valentines and I know they mean a lot to him so I made him some to help him feel loved that day too.  Then we made a bunch of plates of cookies to take to our widow friends and other friends to let them know we were thinking about them and how special they are in our lives.

I also made Adam a big poster sized card with 10 reasons why I love him included inside.

This is the shelf like thing that Adam painted for me to put in my bathroom for all my necklaces and jewelry.

And these are the bakers dozen roses he brought home for me as well, which have a funny story behind them.  Adam had gone to play his last game of ward basketball a few days AFTER Valentines and when he got home at 10:30 at night he walked in with something behind his back.  One by one he kept pulling out these beautiful long stemmed roses and because it was so late at night and these were completely unexpected.  I just kept asking, “where did you get these.”  I was pretty sure he hadn’t gone to the grocery store that late at night just to pick me up some flowers so I was super curious where he had come up with these beautiful flowers.  However, every time I questioned Adam on where he got them he would simply reply, “from behind my back,” and avoid answering the question.  So a few days later we ended up watching two of our friends niblets so they could go to the temple and when they walked in the wife asked, “Oh did Adam get those flowers from Marcus (her husband) or did he buy them for you?”  I immediately was pretty sure they had come from Marcus due to all the secrecy.  She then went onto tell me that Marcus works for a florist shop and had come home with over 100 extra roses that they had over ordered and that Anne didn’t have enough vases to store them all so she suggested Marcus take them to basketball with him that night and give the roses to his team mates to take home to their wives.  Isn’t that so nice?  So in the end I did find out where they came from but loved them even more because they were FREE!

It really was a very wonderful day and Adam and I are just so grateful to have so many amazing people in our lives whom we love so dearly!  We sure are blessed!
