Christmas Eve

This year for Christmas Eve it was just our little family.  At first it felt kind of lonely – but it really ended up being very nice to just spend time together just the six of us.  December this year was especially busy for the Egberts side as we had our niece Ashley’s bridal shower, wedding dinner, and wedding day and reception so my mother-in-law Mumsie decided to forgo doing the usual Egbert Adult Prime Rib dinner which left Adam seriously craving some Prime Rib.  So this year we mixed things up a bit and instead of having Shrimp and Steak like we have in years past – we tried our hand at making a Prime Rib!  It ended up turning out pretty darn good if I do say so myself and we all left the table with more than full bellies!
We set a nice table and let the kids have smancy fancy glasses and plates for our big occasion!
I also made some steamed green beans and garlic potatoes with rolls as well

After dinner we meandered to the living room where the kids had fun taking turns having Daddy read to them.

Where’s Waldo is always one of their favorites!
Sissy enjoyed just hanging with Daddy!

Then we started in on our Christmas Eve tradition of singing Christmas carols, reading in Luke II about the Saviors birth and then turning out the lights and singing Happy Birthday to Jesus.

Then we let the kids open their one individual present – which is always new PJ’s – and then they also get to open one Family Present – which is always a game.  This year we got them “Guess Who” which is a favorite of theirs from the Logan cabin.  The boys loved our “newer” version though which had not only people but animals as well.  We all had a great time playing together as a family.

After playing our game for awhile we made cookies for Santa (peanut butter hershey kiss), and then went upstairs and watched a Christmas movie on TV.  Afterwards we sent the kids to bed with sugar plums dancing in their heads and then did some last minute things to get ready for Christmas Day.  We were luckily able to snap this picture of what Santa brought after Santa came and before we headed to bed.  The kids had all combined their wishlist and asked for a PLAYGROUND for Christmas – but Santa thought it would be fun for the kids to help Mom and Dad put it together as a  family project so he brought the playground un-assembled and just left the slide in the front room and all the lumber in boxes in the basement.  The kids also got snow skies for Christmas this year too!

Sure do love this sweet family of mine!
