On November 3rd my Grandmother Millie Ruth Harrison passed away at 87 years of age. Grandma had been living on her own after my Grandpa passed away unexpectedly last year but began having health problems and was in a care facility when she died peacefully in her sleep. Adam and I and the kids had luckily been able to go and see her 3 days before she passed away and she was really excited about seeing Adalynn and kept saying how beautiful she was as she tenderly stroked her little hands – which was a big accomplishment considering she couldn’t even hold her own cup of water. We were all so grateful we had been able to go and say our goodbyes and tell her how much we loved her before she passed away.
Grandma’s funeral services were held the following Wednesday November 9th in Bountiful where she and my Grandpa lived for a number of years. The services were simple just as Grandma wanted them and only included family. My Aunt Susie and Aunt Julie both spoke about Grandma’s life and then all of us Grand daughters who were able to attend sang a song called “The circle of a woman’s reach” that Grandma had loved. Afterwards they opened up the mike to any who wanted to say a few words. Most of the room got up to speak and it was wonderful to hear all the many memories and experiences everyone had had with Grandma. What a wonderful woman and example she was. I’m so grateful she was part of my life.
After the graveside service we all went to Chuck-a-rama for lunch one of Grandma’s favorite restaurants. Below are some pictures from the day.
