This last week we had back to back reunions with both the Egbert side and the Harrison side. And let me tell you – both were a BLAST!!! Adam and I so very lucky to both have such awesome families that we adore spending time with.
For the Harrison family reunion my brother Luke was in charge and decided to head back to an old family favorite spot in Strawberry just East of Heber. Everyone brought their camping trailers or tents and we spent 4 fun filled days eating lots of yummy food, going hiking, singing camp songs, making smores, going on treasure hunts, making crafts, flinging jello, having a crawdad feast, playing bounce volleyball (SUPER FUN), four wheeling, and fishing for mud puppies. Below are some pictures from our week together.

Papa – who we lovingly called “Cowboy Santa Claus”

For dinner one night Luke, Jake, and Shannon all went scuba diving in Strawberry reservoir and caught us a yummy dinner of crawdads with all the fixins (corn on the cob, potatoes, carrots, and kilbasa). It was a dinner fit for a king!

Later that night Luke and Shannon had an activity for us where we got to “FLING” jello at all the kids and try to get it in their mouths. It was absolutely hilarious to watch and afterwards all the BIG BOYS (my brothers and husband) decided they wanted a turn. Adam later said this was his favorite part of the activity! Super fun.

One of the favorite activities during the reunion was driving up to one of our favorite OLD camp spots where my Dad found a pond YEARS ago (when I was probably 10-12) where we could catch mud puppies (Salamanders). We were all in shock that they were still there after all these years and my parents both loved that we were making special memories with our kids just like they had made with us so many years ago. The kids absolutely LOVED it!

Trying to make this one into a handsome prince…didn’t work so well. Probably because I already found mine! 🙂

Another one of the highlights from the reunion was playing our own version of “bounce volleyball.” My Mom and Dad had set up a net when we all arrived but their volleyball was so hard that it was popping everyones blood vessels in their hands and arms. So we ended up using a “bouncy ball” my Mom had brought for the kids. It was super light though – so we made up a rule that it could bounce on the ground once in between hits. It ended up being a BLAST to play and was something we adults looked forward to doing together every night.
My Mom also put together a wonderful treasure hunt where we each went with our own families to do some fun activities together like play a harmonica, play with a ball together, do crafts, play with toys, eat treats, etc. She focused on how our greatest treasures are our families and spending TIME together. It was really great and she put a lot of hard work into it.
Another highlight is that my sister Jessie and her husband Nick surprised us all by coming up for the FIRST time in 10 years. They have had to miss every single family reunion since before Adam and I were married so this was a real treat to have them there with us. Sure was a wonderful week spent with people we love! Thanks Luke and Shannon for all your hard work! We loved every minute of it!
