Cozumel Mexico

Our third island on our Princess cruise took us to Cozumel which is also an island we hit during our cruise 2 years ago. The first time we were here we had a Mormon taxi driver that took us around the island on our beach tour and at our last stop we snorkeled. Jesus (our taxi driver) asked us about possibly getting him an English hymn book so that he could learn English (he liked to sing Spanish hymns while he was driving his Taxi) so we made sure to pack one so that we could give it to him on this trip. Jesus unfortunately wasn’t working the port we came into in Cozumel but we were able to leave the hymn book with our testimonies in it his taxi driver friend who was working our port and that friend let us talk to him on his cell phone too. He was so grateful and excited to get his hymn book!

When leaving our ship and walking along the port we actually had an older couple (Ed and Nancy) come up to us and ask us about renting a taxi together. They funny enough were going to the EXACT same place we were – and it ended up that we had the same excursion booked that day which was really uncanny if you consider there were only 6 of us TOTAL in the excursion (Ed and Nancy, Adam and I, and a brother and Sister that were also on our cruise). What are the chances with thousands and thousands of passengers that we would just happen to be going to the exact same place? It worked out perfectly.

We shared taxi fare with them and only paid $5 each and then entered into the beautiful Chankanaab park where we both had reservations to swim with the Dolphins at 10:00. It was the first time doing so for both of us – and the excitement was GREAT! 🙂

Unfortunately they didn’t allow digital camera’s into where we had our dolphin encounter – but Adam and I were able to take a bunch of pictures with our water camera which I have yet to get developed. But as a re-cap we were able to be with a mommy dolphin named America who had a 6 month old baby dolphin with her (which we WEREN’T allowed to touch). The baby just mainly swam around America while she interacted with us. We were able to give her kisses, pet her back and tummy several times, have her jump up and touch her nose to our hand raised above our head, dance with her, ride on her tummy by holding onto her fins, and even go on a boogie board ride where she pushed our feet from behind. It was absolutely INCREDIBLE and something both Adam and I are so glad we did. Ed and Nancy loved it too.

Once our excursion was over we were free to use the facilities of the rest of the park and walk around. They had a beautiful protected reef you could snorkel, a botanical garden, Mayan ruins, and different shows during the day.

We decided to hit the beach by the snorkeling area and I went and snorkeled while Adam sat on a beach chair and read. The snorkeling was absolutely Amazing though with thousands of fish that were so bright and colorful and friendly, several schools of fish to see, and beautiful reefs. It was by far the best snorkeling I’d ever done. So when I was finished I was able to convince Adam to take a turn too. He had a great time as well.

Afterwards Ed and Nancy went snorkeling while we went and watched the sea lion show.

Then we wandered around and took pictures until Ed and Nancy were ready to leave.

When we got back to the ship that day we were both so exhausted that we ended up napping for several hours and then went to dinner late. Then I think we went and watched a movie under the stars (The Tourist) and then finished the night off with some ice cream cones and fries. 🙂 Sure was a wonderful day.
