Grand Cayman Island

Adam and I decided this trip that we didn’t want to exhaust ourselves by doing a lot of big excursions on every island- so we had absolutely NOTHING planned to do when we arrived at the Grand Cayman. Plus we had already been to the Cayman island two years previously where we went to Sting Ray City (and loved it) so we instead just decided to just get off the boat when we felt like it and then play the day by ear.

We ended up just walking around a bit looking at different things we could do and I almost had Adam convinced to do a helicopter ride since it was really a good deal – but in the end we ended up just deciding to walk around a bit. While walking in the city though a van stopped and asked us if we would like a ride to 7 mile beach with a whole bunch of other tourists for $2.50 per person. So we spontaneously decided to do that. Once in the van though we learned that there was a turtle farm not too far away and ended up going their first instead. I was so glad. I have always loved having encounters with animals especially if its my first time seeing something up close. The turtle farm was really hands on too which both Adam and I loved.

Holding a less than one year old sea turtle (just like the ones from the movie Finding Nemo)
SUPER CUTE!

They also had this HUGE tank of 60-75 year old Sea Turtles as well

A tour guide then took us around where we got to see and hold turtles of all ages in these more shallow tanks.

This one I believe was about 10-15 years old

I loved their beautiful shells

Silly Adam! (Although these turtles were being raised to be eaten)
This was a lagoon they had at the farm where you could actually swim with the turtles. Adam and I didn’t pay for that – so we just took pictures instead. I loved how beautiful the water was!

And of course how can Adam resist taking a picture in his beloved bamboo?
Its the Korean coming out in him. 🙂

One of me too!

After the turtle farm we ventured over to the Dolphin Discovery pools across the street to watch some of their dolphins being trained. Then we cooled ourselves off by splitting a Mango smoothy!

From there we took another bus at Adam’s request to visit the city called “HELL.” ha ha. Adam got some postcards and made sure they were postdated that they were coming from Hell. He thought he was being so funny. Below is a picture of what it looked like. A very lava rocky type place.

I loved these beautiful flowers in Hell too. Didn’t know they grew there. 🙂

Then we headed over to 7 mile beach for some time in the sun. The water was AMAZING! And I laugh every time I look at this picture of Adam. What a ham! He keeps me laughing everyday!

Cute 23 week Belly shot

After playing around in the water a bit and laying out in the sun we decided to walk along 7 mile beach for awhile (actually we ended up walking it all the way back to the Princess cruise ship). On the way we saw some boat races that were going on that day, and also some fun sand creations. This one is of the Easter Bunny with candy ears and an Easter Egg.

And one of the sun.

When we got back to our port, we were greeted with cool wet wash cloths for our race and cold water before taking our tender back to the Princess Cruise ship. It was an absolutely Perfect day!

When we got back onboard we took showers and then I layed down for a nap while Adam went and read a book. Then we met back up for dinner that night where we tried the ships “anytime dining” experience where you go to eat whenever you feel like it and sit with different people each night. We really liked it and ended up at a table with 3 other couples who once they found out we didn’t drink because we were Mormon asked us a ton of questions about our religion. It was really fun to be back in missionary mode for awhile and get to share some of our beliefs and testimony. Afterwards we went and saw a musical dance show called Motor city and then went and participated in a pool party they were having up on deck. They were teaching all sorts of line dances (which I LOVED) and passing out chocolate dipped strawberries, grapes, and pineapple. So yummy! It was a great way to end the night.
