This year for Thanksgiving it ended up that pretty much all of our extended family was either out of town or had plans with their in-laws which left us doing Thanksgiving dinner solo this year. It was starting to feel awfully lonely (or like a normal family dinner with better food) and I had already started cooking a butt load of food, so we decided to contact some of our favorite friends and widows in our ward to see if they would join us in our feast.
Luckily we were able to find that our amazing friends the Muirs were also having a small party and instead of them coming up to our place for the big feast they insisted we come down to theirs. The invite just completely made my day and I was so glad to be able to share this great holiday with their family. And it worked out well because we were able to split up food assignments to a point that it was easy for both parties. I brought cheesy potatoes, sugared yams, sweet cauliflower, jello, cranberry sauce, olives, and drinks, and then a pumpkin pie and coconut cream pie for dessert. Jeff and Lori took on the turkey, mashed potatoes n’ gravy, stuffing (which was INCREDIBLE), and some of the best rolls I’ve ever had. So Yummy!
We started out the day by doing our traditional “From ceiling to floor all the things were thankful for” (which is a tradition passed down from my old roomie Vanessa – Thanks Ness!) and as a family we were able to come up with so many blessings we have been given! Adam was so funny and his goal was to come up with the most complicated words he could which made me turn over the “writing assignment” to him! Below are some pictures from our wonderful day!

Adams list of “hard words” to spell. He’s such a crack up!

The rest of the night was spent resting on the couches talking about full we all were and playing fun games like phase 10 and Mormon Rook. Sure was a wonderful night spent with WONDERFUL friends. Thank you Jeff and Lori for letting us come and be apart of your special day! We love you all to pieces!
It's amazing how you can have hundreds of friends, but feel so lonely when nobody's available. I'm glad you found a great soluion. I absolutely love the LIST!
