Since Branson had two days off from school this past week Adam and I thought it would be fun to take off and do something fun as a family. But when my brother Luke called to ask if we could take his three kids for 5 days, we decided it was probably best to stick around town. We had a BLAST!
On Thursday we took the kids to Trafalga and spent the afternoon taking pony rides, playing on the bumper boats, and riding rides. Afterwards we called my other brother Jake (since we were in the area), picked up a pizza and met him and my two nieces and nephew at a park in Lehi to let the kids play. To finish off the evening we went home for a movie popcorn night and watched part of Iron Man II until the kids bedtime.
On Friday we decided to have a down day at home where the kids played all afternoon in the neighborhood with friends while Adam and I worked on our yard. We were able to weed all of our tiers on the North side of our house and then put landscaping paper down on the top tier of our flower bed.
The kids and I also made banana bread and then invited Branson’s two friends Blake and Sydney over for lunch. Then that evening we decided it would be fun to have a fire, weenie, and hot dog roast and invited our friends Liz and Dave Weekley and their kids over to join us. I unfortunately didn’t get any pictures. But it was sure a fun night and we loved hearing some of Liz and Dave’s dating stories! They are such a fun couple!
We all got a pretty big kick out if it!
Saturday Adam and the kids spent the morning cleaning the house and doing Saturday chores while I went grocery shopping. Then that afternoon the kids played while Adam and I continued working on weeding our long tier (120 feet long) and then cutting landscaping paper so that we won’t get weeds next year. It was a HUGE project that took us probably 3-4 hours but it will be SO nice next year to not have to worry about weeds! It looks so much better too. Now if only we could find some mulch to put on top.
That evening Adam got the “Uncle of the Year” award and set up a projector movie outside as well as two tents so that the kids could have a camp out! We popped some popcorn and had fun laying out under the stars watching the Swan Princess before bedtime.

On Sunday we took the kids to church (which was CRAZY trying to keep all the kids quiet) and my friend Lindsey Smith from our old singles ward came over. We had her and our other friend Rich over for a yummy dinner of roast, carrots, steamed broccoli, rolls, fruit salad and mashed potatoes and gravy. Then we had cream cheese brownies and ice cream for dessert. Ummm Good! Sure was a fun weekend. I can’t wait until next year!
