Every since Adam and I listened to general conference this last weekend we have wanted to be better at making sure we take a moment to “step back and look at the big picture” as Elder Uchdorf recommended. We evaluated some of the things we have been doing and decided that their was room for improvement.
Therefore one of our goals has been to simply take time to ENJOY our children more and spend quality TIME with them each day. I think for the most part we’ve been pretty good at spending time with our kids when it comes to vacationing and going fun places together, but where I think we sometimes lack is in our day to day routine and all the comings and goings that go on. So this week we decided to do better and step our efforts up a notch. I’ll tell you what…its been a BLAST! đ
Monday night we had a lesson on general conference and went over some of the talks we heard. Then we had a family movie night where we popped some popcorn and had licorice for our treat!
Tuesday we deemed it “game night” and played everything from Hide and Go seek, to Sardines, to Keep away, to bean bag toss, to sandwich!
Wednesday we played around downstairs tossing around a ball for awhile, doing airplane rides in the air, Horsie Horsie, and making up games with a soccer ball. Then we took the boys upstairs and got into our fun dress-up closet to have some fun pretending! (also trying to find costumes for Halloween coming up). The kids absolutely LOVED it!
Not pictured is Branson in an OB-1 Konobe (sp?) costume, and Larry the Cucumber Costume.
Today’s activities consisted of decorating the house for Halloween, a craft project of making webs and spiders, and then whipping up some yummy cinnamon white chocolate caramel candied apples! YUM! Then once Daddy got home we played some fun “Halloween Bingo!” Branson’s two friends Blake and Sydney (our back door neighbors) came to join us!
We are so loving this new routine we’ve been trying to put in place and these precious moments and memories we are making with our children! Family truly is what really matters. How grateful I am for mine!
