On Friday Adam took the day off work and we decided to take the kids to the San Diego zoo. We had originally planned to go to Legoland in Carlsbad that day but by the time we packed up all our suitcases, checked out of our hotel, drove to our condo, and went grocery shopping half the day was gone. So we decided to stay local and hit the zoo instead. Especially considering the zoo was the primary reason for our San Diego trip (its what Branson wanted to do for his birthday). We had a really fun day and the kids loved seeing all the animals live in action!
Our first stop was to see the reptiles!
Lots of snakes and lizards and turtles!
Then we hit the childrens area complete with lots of fun things to do!
The petting zoo was a hit!
After that we jumped on the double decker bus for the 40 minute zoo tour to try to see as much as we could in the 4-5 hours we had. On our tour we got to see this tiger!
And eat some lunch
And snuggle with Daddy
And share apples with Mommy

We took a bathroom break after the bus tour and Harry and Brans had fun playing in the trees!

Then we were off to see the Koala’s!
Is there anything sweeter than a Mommy Koala holding her sleeping baby! Totally melted my heart! I just wanted to squish them!
This mother duck just happened to be walking around with the ducklings!
Next we were off to see the Monkeys and Gorillas! This big guy made my day! He kept rolling around along the window and sat right in front of me eating his piece of lettuce. We made eye contact several times and he was just so cute! I wanted to take him home with me!
The Gorilla’s were so awesome too! (can you tell I love monkeys?)
This guy also sat RIGHT NEXT to the glass and seemed to be very social
Harry and Brans were eating all this up!
They loved playing on the kid friendly monkey statues!

We took the escalators up to go and see the Polar Bear Exhibit
And we walked through the bird portion of the zoo on our way! There were some real beauties in there!
One of my favorite parts of the zoo was seeing the Panda’s! They are seriously adorable!

The boys favorite part though was the Polar Bear Exhibit!
Branson looks so small!
We absolutely loved this polar bear. He was so fun and went and found a big red ball and would play with it in the water right next to the window. Unfortunately we didn’t get any good still pictures but we did get a really good video of it!
And who doesn’t love playing around in an ice cave!?
To end the day we took a sky tram down to the entrance of the zoo! The boys didn’t seem to have a problem with the height!
Dawson and I on the other hand couldn’t wait to get on the ground!

We were glad to get home to our condo that evening and rest for a bit! I ran to the grocery store to pick up stuff for meals the rest of the weekend and brought home a pizza and salad for dinner!
Then we all snuggled up to watch the Princess and the Frog to end the evening!
We sure are loving being on Vacation!
