An Ode to Mumsie…

Dearest Mumsie,

You too have played such an important role in my life and I can’t believe how lucky I am to have a mother-in-law that I not only LOVE but ADORE. I’m so grateful to you for raising such a wonderful son. He is my life and I love him so much.

You have been such an amazing example to me Mumsie. You are ALWAYS thinking about others. It is a rare occasion when Adam and I show up your house and you’ve haven’t either picked us up something from the dollar store or D.I. or clipped us a newspaper article about something were interested in, or made or bought the boys some special present. You just never seem to tire of making people feel loved! You’ve given us beautiful hand made quilts for our wedding, our graduations, our birthdays, and for the births of our 3 sons. You’ve made our boys jammy pants, fixed and sewn clothes for us, and even recently made us a BEAUTIFUL quiet book to keep our kids entertained at church.

We love that you never seem to tire of seeing us and that you invite us over for Sunday dinner every chance you get! I love all our long talks about life and hearing stories about when your kids were little or when you were first married, or about how you’ve also had troubles with screaming children in sacrament meeting. And yet I love what a wonderful listener you are as well. You just always seem to know just what to say.

When Adam and I returned home from graduate school in AZ, you allowed us to stay with you at your house for a couple weeks while we gutted out our Provo house and tried to make it livable again. Then when I went back to school to finish up my degree, you would drive down 2 times a week to help take care of Branson for a couple of hours. You did this for over a year until I was finally able to graduate with my Bachelors degree from BYU.

When I fell to the ground in pain shortly after Branson was born you rushed down again to help with the kids so that Adam could take me to the hospital to have my appendix out. You’ve also been at the hospital for each of my 3 boys births and have stayed to help me and have taken care of my boys on so many occasions so that Adam and I could escape for awhile just the two of us. You truly are a remarkable woman.

I have learned so much from your example of service. I have been blessed by your testimony and faith as you’ve served in just about every capacity in the church. You’ve never turned down a calling and I know you will continue to serve until your very last breath is taken. I love how much you love the Lord and bless the lives of those around you.

Please know how very special you are to me and Adam this Mothers day. We truly are honored to know you and to be able to call you Mumsie. We love you so very much! Thank you for all you do for us!

With Love,
Adam and Sarah
