A few weekends ago the Harrison side of the family took off for our first camping trip of the year. For as long as I can remember my family has been doing this trip down to the Wedge each April and its always full of fun family memories. This year was no exception! On Friday our little Egbert family loaded up all our camping gear into our SUV and made the 2.5 hour drive south to meet up with my parents in their brand NEW trailer, my brother Jake and his family, and my brother Luke and his 3 kids (we missed you Shannon!)
The kids had a blast playing in the sand and exploring, while the adults loved taking 4-wheeler rides, watching movies in Mom and Dads trailer, and shootin’ the bull around the campfire. We sang songs, made tinfoil dinners, roasted marshmallows for smores, and just had a great time being together.
As tradition has it, one day we went on a family hike together. It was a bit more challenging this year than normal since we had 9 kids 8 years old and under to help get up and down the trail, but we did it and I’m sure its a memory we will laugh at for years. Most of the kids complained of hurting feet by the end, and I ended carrying Harry-bob almost the entire way back, but it was fun and we enjoyed spending that time together in the mountains.
When we got back we grilled up some dogs and then took the kids on 4-wheeler rides to go see the petroglyphs and pictographs and then the boys went around gathering fire wood while the girls got dinner going.
We ended up staying for two nights and then leaving early Sunday morning to get back for church, which was a good thing since Adam and I got called into the Bishops office for new callings that morning. Adam was called to be the new Priest Adviser and scout Adviser in the Young Mens, and I was called to the Primary to teach the CTR 7 class and help prepare my 7 year old kids for baptism. We are both excited for the new challenge and opportunity to serve. Below are some pictures my sister-in-law graciously allowed me to use from her camera. Thanks Stacey!
