On Monday, Brans woke up with a chronic cough and couldn’t go longer than 1 minute without hacking up a storm, so I knew I would need to keep him home from school. He was really disappointed about missing school though since it was “bring your bears to school day,” and Miss Susan had planned to have a party with the bears. So In an effort to help him feel better, I suggested we have a bear party of our own! It turned out GREAT and we we all had so much fun.
We started off by bringing all Bransons and Harry’s bears and dolls downstairs and then we set them up in a circle and we all played duck duck goose. If a bear or doll was chosen as the goose, than one of us in the circle would grab the bear/doll and go chasing after the person who was it. It was so fun and the kids loved it! After that I suggested we pin the tie on the bear game and I drew up a bear and taped him to our front door and then made a striped tie with tape on the back that the kids could use to try to pin it on the bear. Brans and Harry had to give each one of there bears/dolls a turn and had fun doing that.
Then I suggested that the boys play hide and go seek with the bears. So Branson went around the house hiding bears in different places and then he and Harrison went searching for them. It was nice and kept the boys happy and entertained for almost an hours on end!
Then later in the day we decided it would be fun if we made a cake for our Bear party! We decided on a Bostom Cream Pie cake and the boys each put on their cute little aprons and helped pour in the cake mix, water, oil, and eggs while the kitchen aid stirred everything together for us. Then we poured the batter into two round cake pans and went and played outside for a bit while they cooked.
After naps I had both boys come down and we dumped the cakes out of their pans onto my cake stand and then ladled pudding into the middle of the cake and then frosted and decorated it. We used smarties for the decorations and the boys each put smarties all over the cake while I spelled out the word “Bears” on top.
Daddy was kind enough to stop and pick up some pizza’s at Papa Johns on his way home for our party, and then we enjoyed eating pizza and cake with the bears. It was sure a fun day for all! đ
You are so creative!
Oh, that just sounds like a wonderful day! I'll bet Branson had way more fun with your spontaneous bear party than he would have at school! And it's so cute that his little brother was in on it, too, and Dad joined in with bringing home pizza. What a great family day.
That's a great idea…I think I'll have a bear (or favorite stuffed animal toy) party with my kids…they would love it, too!
