Today my heart is just so happy for you that I had to write it down. What a momentous day! What a true test of faith! and what an example you are of me of a willingness to follow the Lords will in your life, no matter what! Today you have been rewarded for your faith, and my heart is singing with yours!
I have sat by you as you’ve had baby after baby. All of them…BOYS. Five Boys to be exact. And when the two of us get together we truly are on a testosterone train with our 8 boys combined! But we love it, and have still managed to get together almost every 6 months even though we are so busy in our own lives. Go us! I love that we see each other more often now, and have lunch on a more regular basis.
We are the same age (only 3 months apart. Ha ha you’re older!) and have been friends since we were 5 years old. Friends for 27 years now. Wow, that’s a REALLY long time. You probably know me almost as well as my own Mother. Maybe even better in some ways. We are the same height, same build, and you graciously have shared your clothes with me for years. (Which I can’t thank you enough for! Love them! and its so much nicer not to have to go to D.I. Seriously so awesome of you!)
We have gone through first kisses together (although I’m sure we would both rather forget those experiences! Think Cemetary in Jr. High). Had slumber party after slumber party. Laughed until we cried about silly names like Trevor Vanbrockle. Had crushes on the same boys.
We used to go to Porters place for shakes and fries, Harts gas station for Pepsi, and the Lehi pool to cool off and flirt with boys. We have placed Maxi pads on obnoxious boys cars after they repeatedly kept driving past us squirting us with super soakers. We have shoe boxes full of notes from Jr. High and Highschool with sayings like (2 cute + 2 be = 4 gotten and Best Friends Forever). We have albums full of pictures with us with “wave like” permed hair, MC Hammer pants, WAY too much makeup and pegged pants.
We have supported each other and been there for each other with just about everything. I was at your wedding and you were at mine. You wrote me and supported me my entire 18 month mission. I’ve held your hand and been in the room with you while you’ve brought several of your sweet baby boys into this world. What precious memories these all are, and I’m so grateful for you in my life.
I truly could not be happier for you today. Happy that even though you get horribly sick during your pregnancies and often require hospitalization, that you have endured. Happy that after wanting so desperately to be done having kids after your 5th one, that you prayed to make sure that was what Heavenly Father wanted too. Happy that you followed the impressions and dreams you kept having that there was one more, and happy after all these years you have been blessed to finally be pregnant with your girl!
She will be one SPOILED ROTTEN little sissy pants, but she will be LOVED, and that is what matters most. I’m so happy for you Chicka and hope you know how very much I love you!
Now the only questions is….Which of my boys should we arrange for her to marry?
Love you!
Shicka
