Putting up the Christmas Tree!

Adam and I were actually completely relieved this past Saturday to not have a single thing on our calendar! It literally felt like weeks since we’d just spent a quiet day at home and we were really looking forward to a little down time. So we spent the day cleaning our 3 bathrooms, mopping tile floors, putting the water hoses away, moving the swing set to the basement (so the kids can play on it during the winter) and doing laundry.

Then after the kids naps…it was finally time. Time for the moment I wait for every year. The Time when we put up our Christmas Tree, blast the Christmas music, and start drinking Eggnog!!!

This year I decided I wanted to try something different and so I bought a bunch of new Christmas decorations and we did a Blue Themed Tree. Although it kind of clashes with the red in our little room, I completely love the tree itself. And love having something different after 7 years of marriage. We still plan to put up the old decorations, but on a smaller tree upstairs that the kids can play with.

And as tradition has it we also put up our little village that we have been gathering since our first year of marriage. We try to buy one new piece to it every year and slowly it has grown. We’ve also received a few pieces as presents as well so the village is starting to look more full. So far we have a Tree house, Lumber Plant, Steakhouse, Church, Ginger Bread house, Santa with Children, Family in the park, and 4 or 5 little houses. We love putting it up every year and the kids love it.

We also put up our Nativity, but this year got smart and put it where the kids couldn’t reach it. Therefore avoiding breaking another one of the wise men! 🙂

We ended the evening with warm Apple Cider and Eggnog. Christmas is always my favorite holiday and one where I can truly feel the spirit of Christ. I love the kindness it fosters, the joy it brings, the thoughtfulness it encourages, and the love it shares. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas season!
