More Fun at Lagoon!

Unfortunately this post will have NO pictures for the time being, with the exception of the one above that I borrowed from a Hair Salon blog, (emersonsalon.com) but I wanted to record the rest of our totally fun and busy weekend! For our Jurashic Eggs activity this month the Kerics were in charge and came up with the super fun idea of going to Lagoons Frightmares! Holy cow was I excited. Not only would I get ANOTHER date out with my hubby (no kids) but I would get to go on lots of fun and exciting rides with some of my very favorite people in the whole world! I mean what could be better?

However, right after we got done driving out of the canyon from the Relief Society retreat Saturday morning there were some messages on our phone that half of our Jurashic’s weren’t going to be able to come due to sick babysitters and other events. Such a bummer, but we totally understood. But we were sure disappointed. We almost decided to just stay home since we’d been going and going since Wednesday without stopping, but we had babysitters lined up for the whole day and decided what the heck? So we ran home, changed our clothes, and then raced up to Eric and Kimbers place where we were meeting. Then we smooshed into one car (actually there were only 4 of us, so it wasn’t that smooshed but I like the word smooshed and wanted to figure out how to use it in my sentence. And am glad that now I’ve been able to write smooshed now 4 times, but I’m a little worried that I’m spelling it wrong and that would just be embarrassing! Does anyone know the proper spelling for smooshed?) 😉

Anyway, we traveled up in a car together (does that sound more proper for all you spelling fanatics that don’t think smooshed is a word?) with the hopes that the big black clouds up ahead would dissuade other Lagoon goers from entering the park that day. Unfortunately, that was NOT the case, and the parking lot was PACKED, lines were long, and wait times horrendous. BUT, we had a BLAST!

Adam and I hadn’t been to Lagoon together since–oh probably our first year of marriage (6-7 years ago) so going was just a trip for us. And I’d forgotten how FUN Adam was to have on rides! He seriously cracked me up and would get SO excited, screaming, yelling, and doing movie quotes “look up here, look up here” (3 Amigos) and other fun things. I was in hysterics all day listening to his excitement on the rides. And of course the conversation when we are with the Jurashic Eggs waiting in ridiculously long lines is always of top quality! 🙂 We loved having the Kerics there with us! They totally crack us up and we love them like the dickens! (Actually I’ve never really understood that phrase. Anyone know what it means? Maybe I shouldn’t write phrases like that here on my blog until I know what they mean huh? Or maybe it would be best not to admit I don’t know what things means in an effort to appear smarter than I really am? In any case I’ll have to make a note to myself not to talk to myself when I blog! Dually noted!) I am totally laying off the Halloween candy tomorrow! PROMISE!

Anyway, BACK to my Lagoon story. About half way through our day at Lagoon I started feeling the beginnings of those lovely little things that start turning in your stomach that remind you that you are not invincible and really shouldn’t be tossing yourself around like a salad! And the nausea hit me! FULL FORCE! Funny enough right after riding the Colassas which has NEVER bothered me before. Weird. But I had to sit out for the next few rides while I tried to get my tummy to stop doing somersaults! Eventually we made it over to an eating place, and eventually I was able to hold down a plain Arby’s bun, and some sprite, and then finally got to the point that my stomach settled enough so I could eat normally again. I was so relieved, I would have felt awful had I been the one to rain on the Lagoon parade and made everyone go home early.

So off we went again to ride more rides. We all Absolutely ADORED the new Wicked ride, so that one was a must to go on a second time, and while we were over that direction Adam and Kimber were reminded of how much they LOVE the Screamer (which used to be my favorite ride until I got sick on it). So they went on that one several times in a row while Eric and I talked about Scuba Diving! Adam also totally loved the Rocket so we ended the night by going on that one more time, then going on the Samari and finished off with the bumper cars and a totally delicious Heath Bar Carmel Apple! Soooo good and SO fun!

Unfortunately though on the way home I again got sick! I was exhausted from staying up late at the Girls retreat and therefore, crashed in the car on the way home and when I woke up, it hit me HARD. I had to sit in the back of the car at Kimber and Erics for probably 10 minutes before I could move, and then I spent another 10 minutes in the bathroom hoping I would throw up. But it never came. So we got in our Honda Pilot, and I laid down in the back seat, and Adam drove less than a block before I begged him to pull over. And finally I was able to lose my cookies and feel better. I slept the rest of the way home and went straight to bed. I’ve learned something about myself though, and that’s that the older I get the less I am able to do twirly twisty crazy things with my body. I’m afraid my care free days of riding Lagoon rides may be over. But then again, that’s what Dramamine is for, right? 🙂

Thanks again for an absolutely splendid day Kerics! We had SO much fun — throw up and all! 🙂 Love you guys! And a HUGE thank you to our amazing Babysitters Mum and Smurf and Amy! You guys are INCREDIBLE. Thank you for spending the day with 3 of the cutest boys I know!

Sarah, isn't that weird how our body's physical reaction to things changes as we age…or are you pregnant!?! Just kidding. We love Wicked too.
