CRAZY Week at the Egberts

Last week seriously had to be counted as one of the busiest and at times funnest yet in Egbert history! It started on Wednesday with a planned lunch date with one of my best friends since kindergarten Erica, but due to an unfortunate set of events; i.e. Me trying to renew my drivers license at the Provo DMV only to be told that I had to go to the Orem DMV where I would be required to take the written driving test again since my license had been expired for more than 6 months due to the fact that I’ve been using my AZ license 4.5 years longer than is legally allowed! (But THAT is quite a different story, for another time!!) Anyway, my short little drop off my paperwork and renew my license errand ended up being much more of an adventure than I thought to say the least and took almost 3 hours! Yikes. Anyway, that is not actually what was the fun part of my week, but would count for the busy part! So anyway, lunch with Erica got severely delayed but I did get to spend 3.5 hours at Erica’s house catching up that afternoon which WAS fun.

I stayed with Erica until about 5:30 when I had to leave to run to Orem to pick up Adam from work (I had dropped him off that morning on my way to the DMV). However just as I reached his work I realized I had left my cell phone sitting on Erica’s coffee table in her front room. Ahhhh! And because it was now after hours at Omniture there was no way for me to call security to have them call Adam to send him down. So I had yet another adventure ahead of me. I decided my best option was just to wait outside the door and hope that the next employee down would be kind enough to let me use their cell phone. And they sure were. I had to wait about 5-10 minutes but a very kind man by the name of Paul came out and immediately asked me if I needed help. I told him my plight and he luckily was on the same team with Adam and knew him well. Then Paul teased me about being WAY too good for Adam. He then started dialing Adam’s cell number and teased me more by saying that he wanted to get my digits too! (Mind you Paul is very happily married with 5 kids!) Then Paul told Adam that a Tall Good looking girl was outside waiting for him, and if he didn’t hurry that he might whisk me away! 😉 It totally made me laugh and when I told Adam later, he laughed hysterically and told me that Paul was one of the funniest people he’d ever worked with! He really was a hoot!

After I picked up Adam, we ran back to Erica’s in P.G. to get my cell phone and then drove to Los Hermanos where we were meeting Mum and Smurf and the rest of the Egbert clan to celebrate Mum and Smurfs 54th wedding anniversary. It was so fun to see everyone and catch up on the happenings in everyone’s lives. Adam and I split the fajita’s and then got a yummy smoothie! The boys each got a straw and loved sipping together with Daddy from the same glass!

Then Thursday night we went to the big Omniture Appreciation party in Salt Lake at the Grand America Hotel (which I’ve already blogged about). We had a fabulous time and enjoyed an evening out together without the boys.

Then Friday we had another SUPER fun night! Our Singles ward had planned a big Relief Society Retreat at a cabin up in Schofield (which funny enough is right NEXT to the Egbert Family cabin that Adam’s Dad and 2 brothers own shares in) and Adam was requested by the Bishop to attend the retreat with us so that a priesthood leader was present. I was a bit disappointed in that at first (as I knew if Adam came, so did the boys which kind of defeats the purpose of a GIRLS night), but Adam promised to take care of the boys so that I could party with my girls. And P-A-R-T-Y we did! We seriously had SO much fun!

The Stake Relief Society presidency came up and unbeknown to us, our RS Stake President Sister Brown actually used to be a TOP model in her younger years and actually won the U.S. Top Model competition back in her day and ran around with all the big names in modeling. And she also used to teach makeup and modeling classes to younger aspiring models. Of course it was like pulling TEETH to get her to tell us any of this, but it was such a treat to learn so much about Sister Brown. So Sister Brown and her counselors Sherrie and Melinda came up to teach us about how to apply makeup. Sherrie (the 1st counselor in the Stake R.S. presidency) also has a makeup background and was actually asked by one of the general authorities to head up a new program at the MTC to help teach sisters (who want to participate in the program) how to do their own makeup. So it truly was a rare treat to be taught by these marvelous women!

The rest of the night was spent in constant laughter as we eat chocolate fondue and talked about everything from embarrassing moments, to first kisses, bad kisses, best kisses, creative kisses, embarrassing girly stories, relationships, and boyfriends.

My favorite part of the night though (as true to my nature) had to be when we went upstairs and explored the DANCE studio! Yes this cabin was THAT amazing! It took us a few tries but we were able to get the disco ball and music going which just seemed to release more of our girly energy and made us all go crazy on the dance floor! We did everything from competing to see who could slide across the floor like Tom Cruise in our socks, to shaking our hips like sexy Latin dancers, to doing flips into the love sac and twirling each other around in circles. It was seriously so much fun and we ended up staying up until just past 2 am! Oh how wonderful it was to feel like I was 20 again! I so LOVED being with my girls! Thank you all for being so dang fun!

Saturday morning the boys got up early so I got up with them and then Marie and I got started on breakfast. Slowly but surely the crowd started coming in! And we eventually all got fed. Then we cleaned up the cabin and headed our separate ways.
