First of all, I just have to thank Missy for letting me steal all her fantastic pictures from her blog since my camera gave up the Ghost several weeks ago. I’m so glad she caught some of these precious moments of our Jurashic Eggs night up in Salt Lake. I also want to thank the Kerics (Kimber and Eric) for planning such a wonderful activity. As always they put together a wonderful spread.
For our night out together Eric and Kimber planned for us all to meet at a park just north of the Salt Lake Cemetery for a little picnic action. We took up homemade Quizno’s, strawberries, pringles, grapes, rice crispy treats, and drinks and had fun laying out on our blanket or parking ourselves in our camping chairs and catching up on everyones adventures (especially Eric and Kimbers honeymoon!)
We then moved the party southward to the cemetery where each of us had prepared a little history about a prophet or apostle for FHE that night. It was so incredible to be walking around the cemetary where so many of our great leaders were laid to rest. We found President Spencer W. Kimballs gravesite, Elder Maxwell, President and sister Hinckley and many others. And we were able to learn some wonderful stories about many of them. Adam and I chose Elder J. Golden Kimball as our Apostle and found some very humorous stories to share about him. One interesting fact was that he had more people in attendance at his funeral than any other prophet or apostle with the exception of Brigham Young. He was a very loved man who really had a gift at understanding others and getting down to their levels.
All in all it was a wonderful night. Thanks again Kerics for putting it together. and P.S. We missed you Ashby’s!
