A typical day with 3 boys…

I’ll try to let most of the pictures do the explaining, but thought I’d try and capture what a typical day is like with the 3 boys.

Around 7:30 am I wake up to Adam placing Dawson in bed with me to nurse. Daddy usually brings all the the kids in with him and gives all of us kisses and loves goodbye and then leaves for work. After I’m done nursing Dawson, we play in my room for a minute, change diapers, and then I get breakfast for Branson, Dawson and Myself. (Actually its more like 2nd breakfast for the two older boys since Adam has already fed them cereal, but Branson always INSISTs they are still hungry and I usually cave in and give them yogurt and or fruit). As for me, I usually have a peanut butter banana protien shake or crunchy Raisin Bran.

Next, we have family bath time where we all get our hair and bodies washed and play for about an hour in the tub. Then its time to get everyone dressed and ready for the day. Branson can dress himself without help, and Harry-Bob tries, but as you can see from the pictures below, Harry’s having a hard time figuring out how to get those silly pants on! (which are always shirts and usually 2-3 of them at that, all put on as mini skirts)

Gotta love the plummers crack!

At breakfast we talk about the happenings of the day or other adventures we’ve had lately. Today our conversation was all about our “nature hike” we took yesterday where we picked all the lovely fowers seen below in empty fields and lots near our home, while the boys worked on the A/C. (As you can probably see, most of them are actually WEEDS, but the kids don’t know any better and they really are quite lovely).

This is the bouquet Branson put together yesterday on our walk. As he was collecting flowers he kept saying, “Now I can use these for when I get married!” (I think he still has Kimber and Erics wedding on the brain, and knows flowers go with weddings)

Later Branson and Harry-Bob played with the play-doh seen in the corner of the table making snakes and stars and a gigantic mess!
And, since it was high time to cut off the long fingernails and toenails of these little fellas, we decided to take the party outside seeing as it was such a beautiful day. Afterwards the boys found these nice yellow flags left by blue stakes who came last night to show us where our power lines are so we don’t dig in spots that are unsafe (we want to plant some trees).

All the while this little fella was happily playing in his bouncer! Dang, he’s a cute kid!

Then its time for free-time for Brans, nap-time for Dawson and Harrison, and personal time for Mom. Brans usually watches a movie, reads stories online, does a puzzle, or plays his favorite online games with Boo & Quala. My routine is to read 1 chapter in the Book of Mormon, 1 Ensign article from Aprils General Conference, and then read Og Mandino’s “I will greet this day with love in my heart scroll.” I then allow myself to login to my computer and check my calendar, email, and blogs and finish getting ready for the day. Laundry usually gets thrown in and or folded around this time, as does picking up the house and doing the morning dishes. Today, my project was to clean out Harrison and Dawsons dressers and closets. I was able to pack up clothes that didn’t fit, organize all the drawers and shelves, and unpack summer outfits for both. Yesterday I did all Branson’s stuff and my closet as well. I love getting at least one big thing done a day.

After Harrison gets up from his nap we have lunch (usually around 12:30 – 1:00) Today we had one of Branson’s favorites….Spaghetti!

Which according to both boys is MUCH more fun to eat with your HANDS!

Lickin that plate clean!

We pretty much had to give both boys another bath after this meal!

Dawson just hung out in his exer-saucer and was such a good little boy!

After lunch we usually go outside and play for a bit, water the flowers and raspberries, and take a walk in the red wagon or stroller. And like any normal day, we always have some of the below going on….from both boys. You know the normal toddler behavior of tantrums, crying, whining, and screaming that happens when little folks don’t get exactly what they want when they want it. Its all part of motherhood. This particular meltdown is because Harrison brought me a juice box and asked for some. I told him I would be happy to get him some since he asked so nice (he said please), but the juice box was empty so I asked Branson to throw that particular juice box away while I went to get a new one for Harrison. Harry-Bob Did NOT like the fact that we were throwing that Juice box away though which brought on his crocodile tears. He just didn’t get the fact that another box was coming. Poor fella.

Meanwhile this little fella and I hung out under one of our two tiny trees in the front yard.

Branson loved watching all the planes go by. He LOVES planes and can pick one out in the sky faster than anyone I know.

The boys did some great works of art using side walk chalk

And there is always a lot of this going on throughout the day.
The boys so enjoy Lovin on baby brother.

and pretending they are Superman

And it seems like on most days something like THIS happens!

Finger lookin Good

Oh man this Chocolate is GOOD!

The Crime Scene

The Culprit. The Heavenly, wonderful, mouthwatering, NUTELLA Himself!
Really, what kid can resist this?

All of this is happening of course while Dawson is crying in his crib because he’s gotten out of his blanket, and Branson is upset because he’s been put in a time-out, and Daddy is pinging me to look into getting coupons from Roto Rooter because the sewage has backed up in our Provo rental house! Ahhhh! So you can imagine what I was feeling when Harrison walked around the corner covered in chocolate. It was one of those cry or laugh moments, and luckily it was the laughter that enveloped me instead of the tears. Which actually helped calm me down, step back, and see the humor of the moment even though I was completely overwhelmed. I immediately took Harrison’s hand and led him to the sink, stripped his clothes, washed him down, and then Branson and I cleaned up the crime scene. THEN, I was finally able to go and get Dawson, and comfort him and get him back to sleep. Whew! Gotta love moments of total chaos! They sure keep you on your toes! 🙂

Needless to say, dinner ended up being a frozen pizza thrown in the oven, ten minutes before I was due to get on my 1.5 hour Six Advisors coaching session. The kids lucked out though and got to watch another movie (usually they only get one a day) since Dad wasn’t home yet to help out. And then got to stay up late because Dad still hadn’t gotten home by bedtime (7:30) and Mom’s call didn’t get over until 8:30. So here we are at almost 9:00 pm now, and the kids are just now getting put to bed! Whew. What a day!

haha, only mothers of boys would understand the total chaos that comes… and I only have 1. I can’t imagine 3. But all 3 of them are total cuties!!! They have grown up to be such adorable little men!

Grrrr…little boys are NOTHING like little girls. My little girls never thought of getting into the things and making the messes my boys did. As they’ve gotten older I can’t believe the things they take apart. It’s a good thing they’re stinking CUTE!
