Day 1 Peru: Finally Here!

When Adam and I were researching where to go for our family vacation this year (when Europe didn’t work out), we decided to only visit two countries (due to the hassle of traveling during covid). We also wanted countries that were somewhat inexpensive seeing as we were taking our large family, and countries that had a good mix of both mountains and beaches. We ended up asking our nephew Sam who has traveled extensively all over the world what he would recommend, and Peru was at the top of his list!

We had always wanted to visit Peru ourselves, and it had been on our bucket list for years, so it became our country #2. We ended up flying to Lima from Costa Rica, and then spent 3 days in a cute little airbnb right on the beach in a 52 story apartment in San Miguel (a section of Lima).

Our first day in Peru we went to try to find something to eat but unfortunately the first two restaurants we walked to were closed! 😥 Thankfully a nice man saw us looking around, and asked if he could help and took us directly to a nearby OPEN restaurant where we tried some Ceviche (one of the dishes Peru is known for) as well as a seafood platter (which we found some of our less adventurous eaters didn’t care for), so we ended up getting fries for the instead.

Afterwards we did some shopping to try to get some basics, exchanged some money, explored the markets, and then did some souvenir shopping where we bought some warm alpaca socks, and soccer jersey’s.

Later Adam got us an uber (only $6 for a large car that fit us all) to take us into the heart of Lima where we went to their “Magic water fountain park” that we read was great for kids. Boy was it ever! The fountains in the park were amazing and so colorful! And we all had a great time. We all tried our first Peruvian churro which was only .25 cents, and to die for, and then we got take out from a Sushi place to take home with us! A fun first day in Peru! ❤
