Costa Rica: Nauyaca Falls

One of my favorite days in Costa Rica was kind of a spontaneous one. I had woken up pretty early at 6am that day and spent some time looking up a waterfall I had heard about called Nauyaca Falls. When I saw the pictures of it and some comments about how it was many peoples favorite excursion while in Costa Rica, I decided it was a must do/see for me.

However, because I am only 1 member of a large family I knew I’d have to convince the rest of my cute little clan to go, (and several family members had already talked about having a down day since we’d pushed ourselves pretty hard in Manuel Antonio the day before), but thankfully pictures really do speak 1000 words, and after showing everyone the pictures of the falls I was able to convince everyone that it would be a worthwhile awesome experience. I’m SO glad we made it happen, because it did end up being one of my favorite places we went to while in Costa Rica!

We left at around 9:30 that morning, drove 45 minutes to the parking lot of the falls, paid $10 each to get in, and then hiked 5 miles round trip to see it in super hot muggy weather, but it was SO worth it!

Adam, Harry, and Daws all jumped in near the waterfall and swam in front of it and then floated down across the river (which was raging) and kind of got stuck on the other side requiring a nice worker to throw a rope to them to help them cross safely since the current was so swift, and that got my mamma heart a little worried, but in the end they all got over just fine. Whew! But a wonderful day at Nauyaca Falls. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking! ❤
