Valley of Fire – Mouses Tank

After the kids favorite camping breakfast of Lucky Charms, and Cinnamon Toast crunch (and granola and yogurt for Mom) we headed out for a full day of fun in the Valley. Our first stop was to a place called “Mouses Tank” which was actually a place a robber found. Apparently Mouse was the robbers nickname and he hid out in the Valley of Fire and was able to avoid arrest for some time because he found what he called his “tank of water.” It in reality was just a small hole formation in a few of the rocks where water would accumulate after it rained. But this water kept him alive and able to hide out in the valley of fire for quite sometime. Needless to say it was a fun little hike for us all.

There were petroglyphs all over as we hiked.

See the petroglyphs under Ady below?

Here’s another shot of Branson pointing out the petroglyphs.

And here is Mouses Tank of water he found to keep him alive.

Lucky for him there were even two tanks.

This is what the area looked like around the tanks. Definitely lots of places to hide for Mouse to avoid detection.

Mouses Tank is also where Jamis suddenly decided to get his climbing legs on! We could not KEEP this kid off the rocks to save our lives and he ended up climbing all the way to where Harry and Ady are in the picture above. He loved being on the rocks and getting as high as he could! His Mommy on the other hand kept having mini heart attacks every time he took off to climb another wall!

Its hard to convince Jamis to stay on level ground though when he sees his brothers scaling walls like these!

Adam thankfully took a turn helping Jamis climb as well but is much more fun than I am! So grateful for rumbly tough Daddy’s to help get that little boy energy out!

Love this shot of my cute family!

We loved finding arches just about everywhere! I’ve never seen so many in a park!
