Valley of Fire – Atlatl Campground

After our fun hike to Rainbow Vista it was around dinnertime so we decided we’d better head back to camp. I was exhausted waking up early, having driven 5 hours that morning, and hiking and in need of a nap, and the kids were ready for some down time. So we headed back to camp and set up the trailer. I then went and tried to take a nap, but it was like 87 degrees outside and felt like 100 in the tent trailer so I just ended up laying down for 10 minutes or so and “resting my eyes.” Then Adam got us a fire started, and I got going on making tinfoil dinners for the adults and pigs in a blanket for the kids. They love putting their piggies to bed! The kids also loved exploring our campground and climbing the big steep wall next to us. Jamis mostly just loved playing in the water spigot.

It was a really pretty campground through with some cool red rock mountains all around us.

Dinner that night tasted mighty good and consisted of kilbasa, green and yellow squash, potatoes, carrots, onions, and slices of red pepper. Yum!

A view of our camping spot.

That night after eating our tinfoil dinners and pigs in a blanket we roasted some marshmallows for dessert and had some cornflake treats.

We couldn’t see a lot of the sunset due to the mountains but the parts we did see were perty!

That night we all ended up crashing at like 9pm Utah time which was like 8pm Nevada time. We were tired! But surprisingly we all slept until around 7 am Nevada time! Nice. Ady woke up a few times crying but couldn’t tell us why, and wouldn’t go right back to sleep. We think she might have been having night terrors. The rest of the kids slept like champs though. Once Jamis woke up though he was determined to get outside. He absolutely seemed to LOVE camping and exploring the area. His favorite thing to do though was to push his own stroller all over the place. Silly boy!
Here Jamis is lifting his legs up and asking Adam to put on his shoes!

I had to laugh at his bottle drinking spot he chose that morning! He’s all boy!

The boys loved hiking and climbing all over these big rock hills. That is until another older camper started getting mad that they were hiking near his site. 🙁

Such a gorgeous campground though!

Adam took the boys up the backside of the cliff wall next to our campground all the way to the top! Here I am looking up at them from the fire pit.
