Packing Out and Fishing in Green River

On Monday it was pack out and head home day but Adam wanted to do a little more fishing before leaving so we got up really early to start packing up. Unfortunately it took much longer than we thought to get out and we didn’t end up leaving camp until after 10:00 am! I guess thats what happens when you have two tents to clean and dry out, 5 sleeping bags, 3 pads, and 5 packs to get ready! We also had to squeeze breakfast in there somewhere and had fun gorging on all our left overs (which we had a LOT of). We realized this trip that we really need to cut back on how much food we take up. We brought so much home! But with growing boys you never know! It was a beautiful day to backpack down the mountain! Can you believe these mountains were covered in 4 inches of snow 2 days before? Crazy how quickly it all melted.

We were anticipating having to hike down in lots of lots of mud due to the snow melting, but were pleasantly surprised that most of the trail was quite dry! It really was just the perfect day! The best part was that the kids didn’t really complain at all this time. They did amazing on the way down and kept happy faces the whole time! We seriously were so proud of how they handled doing hard things!

We still took a few breaks on our way down but drastically cut down how many we did compared to the hike up. We made it from the meadow to porcupine creek in less than an hour!

Then it was fishing time! I really wanted to go and see the upper green river lake, which was just a short 10 minute jog across the meadow, so Adam agreed to do his fishing over there!

The river was just beautiful!

Adam and the boys had fun fishing in it while I hiked ahead to take pictures.
